A New Era of Leadership in Nursing and Health Sciences Saint Anselm College welcomed two new leaders to the Hilltop this July, marking an important moment of momentum for the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Dr. Michael Lewis President, Saint Anselm College
Dr. Elizabeth Landers Dean, Jean School of Nursing & Health Sciences
Dr. Michael Lewis became the 12th president of Saint Anselm College on July 1, 2026. Dr. Lewis formerly served as Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit liberal arts institution whose mission aligns closely with our own. He brings a distinguished academic and administrative back‑ ground. He earned his BSc from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri–Columbia, followed by postdoctoral work at Harvard University. He joined Saint Louis University’s faculty in 2004, earning multiple teaching awards and publishing extensively. Since 2020, he has served as Provost, overseeing academic strategy, major institutional initiatives, and 11 schools, including the Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing and the Doisy College of Health Sciences.
DONOR PROFILE
Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” Landers joined the College on July 6, 2026, as Dean of the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Dr. Landers previously served as Associate Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Endicott College, where she led in the development and launch of a number of programs at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral level. Prior to that, she served as Associate Professor and Director for nursing programs at Regis College, a liberal arts institu‑ tion with a strong Catholic identity. She earned her BA from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, her MSN from Endicott College, and her Doctor of Education from Regis College. She is currently a candidate for her Ph.D. in Nursing, with her research focusing on clinical judgment and transition to practice.
Legacy of Opportunity for Future Nurses Robert P. “Bob” Demers ‘69 and his wife Linda D. Harper, have long held the belief in the power of education to transform lives. Their thoughtful estate planning allows them to consistently support this belief in multiple Robert P. “Bob” Demers ’69 venues and especially in and Linda D. Harper their support of Saint Anselm College, particularly the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
We look forward to the leadership, experience, and vision Dr. Lewis and Dr. Landers will bring to the Jean School and to the College as a whole, further advancing the momentum of this important moment in our history.
Their planned gift, a bequest intention to establish the Father Francis L. Demers, O.M.I., Memorial Endowed Nursing Fund in honor of Bob’s late uncle, who was an adjunct professor at Saint Anselm, reflects both their generosity and their values. It will also honor the Demers family’s deep medical heritage and support the advance‑ ment of this critical field by providing students access to opportunities to fulfill their personal aspirations while offering critical services to society.
As they look toward the future, Bob and Linda’s commitment to an endowed scholarship will help provide financial assistance to aspiring nurses, allowing talented students to focus on their studies and prepare to serve their communities with skill and compassion. Ultimately, this scholarship will help to ensure that future generations of students will have access to the same opportunities that have meant so much to the Demers family. Planned giving donors, like “Endowed bequests Bob and Linda, had a profound strengthen our effect on the highly successful school and, in turn, Campaign for the Jean School the communities of Nursing and Health Sciences our graduates at Grappone Hall. As the will serve.” Campaign ends, 10 new planned gift intentions and Dr. Michael Lewis nine realized bequests account President, Saint Anselm College for almost $16M of the total committed. Through their foresight and dedication, Bob and Linda, and our other planned giving donors, are creating a legacy that will open doors for nursing students and strengthen the future of healthcare. Saint Anselm College is deeply grateful for their generosity!
Fueling the Future
In addition, they structured their charitable giving in ways which will be generational by encouraging conversations with their young nieces and nephews to inspire in them a spirit of generosity that will continue this support for years to come.
