Sagemont Prep Summer Conservatory Music Course Offering Blocks

World Drumming: Students will explore historical, social, and theoretical principles of West African, Latino, and Caribbean drumming and songs. Students will have an amazing time in this historical and cultural approach to music education and application. The teaching methodology of this workshop includes interactive, creative, and fun activities. Students will build important life-skills such as communication, listening improvisation, teamwork, discipline and respect for cultural diversity.

Piano Ensemble: Students with little or advanced experience in keyboard will develop musicianship and ensemble performance skills through the study of basic, high-quality music in diverse styles. Student musicians focus on building foundational music techniques, music literacy, listening skills, and aesthetic awareness. Public performances will serve as a culmination of specific instructional goals.

Chorus: Students will be exposed to choral elements, such as ensemble singing, blend, and vocal techniques. This course is designed for students who want to learn how to sing or can already sing. Students participate by singing among a group, not individually.

Percussion Ensemble: Percussion ensemble focuses on the wide variety of percussion repertoire and styles for the diverse family of percussion instruments. Students will be introduced to Boomwhackers, bucket drumming, hand bells, claves, found objects and more.
