The SAF Yacht Club (SAFYC) members and guests were exclusively invited by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) for an educational visit to the Changi Naval Base on 9 December 2022.

The 41 SAFYC members and guests spent their morning on board the Landing Ship Tank, RSS Endeavour – one of the largest warships in the RSN – and experienced the shipboard life and adventures through sharing of personal stories by the RSN personnel. They also had an exclusive sneak peek of the recently revamped Navy Museum before it will officially reopen in 2023!

Read on to find out more about the highlights of the visit!

On board RSS Endeavour, the SAFYC members and guests visited the Combat Information Centre, Bridge, Wardroom, Hangar, Tank Deck, Galley, and Cafeteria – the main living and working areas of a warship – to experience the RSN personnel’s "home away from home".

At the newly revamped Navy Museum, SAFYC members and guests had the chance to learn more about the history of the RSN, the development of the RSN’s assets and capabilities over the years, as well as how the RSN enhances peace and security through naval diplomacy.

The RSN had a great time hosting the guests and members of the SAFYC, and hoped that they had a great time too! Wishing the SAFYC members and guests fair winds and following seas.

‘Special thanks to the RSN and their personnel for the warm hospitality and sharing of their personal journey. I now have a better understanding of how life is like in the RSN!’

Training Development Group (TDG) Team Building and Cohesion

The TDG held their activity-packed team building at SAF Yacht Club on the 21st of October 2022.

The attendees arrived between 08.30 am – 09.00 am followed by a briefing of the day’s activities.

The teams started with land activities such as Minefield and Archery. Minefield is an activity that requires great teamwork to succeed. Team members had to guide their blindfolded counterparts through the obstacles to reach the ending point safely. A fun way to team bond with an emphasis on the importance of trust, safety, and effective communication. At the same time, the other teams tried their hands at archery, urging each other to aim for the best (bullseye) to gain perfect scores for their teams.

At 10.00 am, the teams were guided to the pontoon for their sea activity briefing facilitated by our Seasports Manager, Jason Swee. The teams did a fun Banana Boat race and ended with a Ski Tube ride.

After the thrilling rides and survivor-like challenges the teams overcame, the winning team was announced. The losing team took turns at the dunk tank seat where the winning team members had fun trying to dunk their colleagues. It was all done in great fun and lots of laughter was all around!

Lunch was served at 12.30 pm. Although tired from the morning’s activities, everyone had a fun and fulfilling session at the SAF Yacht Club.
