I grew up seeing my elder sister and brother sailing, I also want to be like them :) the lounge area, after school training I will mingle around with my friends.

Could you share your most memorable sailing experience? When I started sailing in Changi, I was stuck in a storm, I didn’t know what to do and I saw some sailors sailed to the nearby beach. My father was at the beach and told me he couldn’t carry the boat all the way back to the ramp. He asked me to sail back myself and don’t give up. After I reached the ramp, I was overjoyed that I made it back.
What about your worst experience in sailing? After I performed a capsize drill, there was a huge fish that appeared in my boat, I was petrified as I did not know what to do. I hurried my coach over to help me release the fish.
Are you into other sports besides sailing? If yes, what are they? Yes. Running.
How do you manage sailing around your curriculum of studies? I would often do my homework before I go for my training as when I come back home from training I will be very lethargic.
For you, what makes a good sailor? I feel that having determination and being resilient would make a good sailor.
What are your personal goals in terms of sailing? I want to push myself forward to be a better sailor and to get the top few in silver fleet.

• 16th position in 18th SAFYC
Regatta. Came in 2nd in one of the races. What’s your favourite aspect of sailing? My favourite part of sailing is during strong wind. I like the feeling that I am able to control the boat during strong wind.
What can you say about your time with SAF Yacht Club? Fun, Enjoyable and Challenging. I love Any regattas you are looking forward to this year? How do you prepare yourself for the competition? Raffles Marina Optimist Regatta and Singapore National Sailing Championships. I will prepare by giving myself more water time and to learn as much as possible from my coach.

Words For a Fellow Sailor:
As long as you try, you will get there. How did your sailing journey come about? My sailing journey came about when my parents brought me to Changi Sailing Club to enroll in opti junior as they thought some fresh air would be good for me. My parents and my sister also took up sailing at the same time.
What’s your favourite aspect of sailing? I love feeling the wind in my hair, the waves crashing against my boat, and the taste of sea spray on my tongue.
What can you say about your time with SAF Yacht Club? I think it is a wonderful experience, from being in C squad, where it is very relaxed, and then to B squad, which is tougher (especially the promotion test). It has also been great training in both Sembawang, and now at NSRCC in East Coast.
Could you share your most memorable sailing experience? My most memorable sailing experience was in B squad, when a storm hit us during training. Although most of the squad sailed back to shore, I, together with four other teammates, challenged ourselves by sailing in the storm and the challenging conditions.
What about your worst experience in sailing? My worst experience in sailing would probably be the training session when there was zero wind, and the current was super strong, and in the end everyone had to be towed back to shore.
Are you into other sports besides sailing? If yes, what are they? Yes. They are skiing, wakeboarding, and wake surfing. How do you manage sailing around your curriculum of studies? We sail either in the morning or afternoon on the weekends, and we make sure we study hard during the time that we’re not sailing.

For you, what makes a good sailor? For me, a good sailor is one with determination, perseverance, focus and love for the sport. into Gold Fleet. However, how much time that would take doesn’t really matter to me.
Any regattas you are looking forward to this year? How do you prepare yourself for the competition? Yes – the next regatta will be the Raffles Marina Regatta. I will prepare myself by focusing during training sessions, especially on improving my starts.
