What is the Kind of Efficiency you Promise the Market with your Systems and Equipment? Our state of art manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Ahmedabad which is over 70,000 sq. feet, has the latest foundry, casting technology, machining and testing facilities. We are looking at new casting techniques to improve product quality and reduce production time. At the same time, we are continuously looking to increase our product portfolio with new firefighting branches, monitors and accessories which will strengthen the hands of the firefighter and contribute to better firefighting at the incident scene. Q. Share an Experience in which you Successfully Tackled a Difficult Problem or Challenge. How were you able to be Successful? We face different challenges everyday; however the Covid-19 pandemic was a difficult challenge, both from human and business point of view. There was not clear information available and we saw some difficult times in terms of large-scale movement of labourers and their travails. One of the first steps we took was to reassure our workforce and make basic arrangements for their stay and other requirements. It was aso important to take care of employees/workers who were affected due to the pandemic. We were able to do this by having the belief that all employees are part of our larger family and only if we take care of them in difficult times, they will reciprocate accordingly in the future. Q. Having been in the industry for more than 4 decades, I can confidently say that my communication with clients has been based on mutual respect and trust. Once committed to a client, I have always ensured that his expectations are met whatever be the circumstances - for a brand to survive 8 decades, this is a basic prerequisite. As far as employees are concerned, my communication with them is based on empathy and faith; many of our employees have been with us for 4-5 decades and in some cases, even the second and third generation from the same family have been with us. Our employees have stayed with us due to our open and clear communication with them. Q. What is the Final Advice you would Like to Guide the Readers when Selecting the Products, When it Comes to Safety and Fire Protection? AEROSOLS AT SEA

AEROSOL TECHNOLOGY IS EMERGING AS A POPULAR CHOICE FOR FIRE PROTECTION ON BOARD SHIPS, WRITES CHETAN UDGIR OF DSPA, BOTH BECAUSE OF ITS ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS AND ITS EASE OF INSTALLATION. Over the last decade aerosols have emerged as a popular choice for fire protection on board ships, both as portable fire knockdown tools and as fire suppression for engine and generator compartments, fuel storage areas and electrical cabinets. There are many possible fire scenarios in a modern warship makes and therefore it is challenging to handle the fires onboard ships. In terms of strategy, the Indian Navy currently has a two tiered response to fight fires. The initial response is immediate by an 'Attack' Party and this is followed by a full response by 'Support Party', if the requirement exists. With technologically advanced machinery and controls, the manning strength onboard ships would continue to reduce. Therefore, there is a need to introduce modern fire suppression technologies which require minimum involvement of personnel and are more effective. The Portable DSPA-5 Aerosol Fire Extinguisher (hand held pyrotechnic aerosol extinguisher) is one such technology and akin to the existing portable extinguishers these can either be stored at various locations for immediate use by the 'Attack' Party or can be stored in a safe and secured location and sent to the scene of fire for use by the Support Party. 36

Aerosol systems produce micron-sized dry chemical particles, mainly potassium compounds, and gas products. They extinguish fires at a chemical level by binding the unstable flame propagation radicals and by absorbing heat. Like Halon, Aerosol expands volumetrically to flood the compartment and will remain suspended in the air for a long period to ensure there is no re-ignition. However, unlike Halon, Aerosol does not damage the ozone layer; is not harmful to humans or animals; and is environmentally friendly. The dry, micron sized particles are non-conductive and non- corrosive, so they will not affect any electrical equipment or obstruct air filters. DSPA generators are small, self-contained units that are mounted at ceiling height so that they don't take up valuable floor space. The conventional fire suppression systems such as those that use CO2 or FM200 require heavy, pressurised cylinders that are expensive to install and maintain. Our aerosol systems don't require any manifolds, piping or nozzles, so they won't inhibit on other machinery or walkways and are easier to maintain. This makes them extremely cost effective. During evaluation for use onboard Indian ships, a live functional test was carried out with the DSPA-5 by the Indian Navy in March 2014 at its August 2021 - www.visionmediahitech.com

NBCD School at INS Shivaji, Lonavala in FFTF in the Galley burn room with a volume of 20.23 m3. The evaluation was conducted under conditions similar to those which may be encountered by Attack Party in fire scenarios onboard ships. Due to the design sizes and intended use of the DSPA-5 hand held units for fire knockdown, they were tested against fires in spaces significantly smaller than those for which the fixed fire protection systems covered in the larger IMO MSC Circular 1007 Machinery Space Test Protocol [MT-3] would be used. Further, particular emphasis was placed on evaluation of the units for use against engine enclosure and accommodation fires, in particular Class 'A' fires, as well as open and hidden Class 'B' fires. For each test, the compartment was first preheated with a 2-3 minute pre-burn diesel fire. Following this, the main test fire was burned until steady state, fully developed fire conditions were established in the burn compartment. The aerosol extinguisher was then activated and placed on the floor just inside the door of the test compartment, positioned to allow the discharged aerosol particles to be drawn to the fire along the path of cool ambient air entering the compartment and feeding the fire. DSPA-5 handheld aerosol knockdown unit generated sufficiently large quantities of aerosol and distributed them throughout the compartment appropriately to successfully prevent ignition of propane lighter throughout the 10 minute test. ln both cases, even after the compartment door was opened and much of the aerosol escaped, ignition did not occur for approximately one minute. This suggests that, as long as a compartment is confined, aerosol agents will remain suspended and inhibit re-ignition of unburned fuel for many minutes after activation of a hand held unit. It was concluded by the Indian Navy that the DSPA-5 portable aerosol fire extinguishing systems have been found to be useful as an effective fire knock down tool for Attack Teams. DSPA-5 knockdown units will function even when fully immersed in water. For many years the DSPA-5 has been in use by professional firefighters around the world, but now this device is increasingly being acquired for use by trained first responders both on land and at sea. Capable of knocking down the flames and suppressing a fully developed fire in a compartment of up to 100 cubic metres, the DSPA-5 can be deployed without the operator having to enter the fire compartment. After activating the device via the ring-pull mechanism, the operator has 10 seconds to throw it into the fire compartment before it discharges the aerosol compound and floods the compartment. 'This allows more time for the crew to carry out the emergency evacuation procedures and, if it is safe to do so, attack the fire with water or foam in order to dampen down any remaining hotspots,' explains Frans Vogelzangs, CEO of the DSPA-5 manufacturer DSPA. NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, covers notification requirements in Chapter 18. Audible notification (horns, speakers, chimes) are performance based. NFPA 72 requires 15dBA above average ambient for public mode notification but does not state specific device spacing or sound level requirements. As long as the minimum sound level requirements are met, the code is not concerned with how many devices are used or how they are spaced to meet the requirements. Visible notification requirements in Chapter 18 are prescriptive. Using the tables in Chapter 18, the design determines strobe candela intensity requirements based the location of the strobe (wall or ceiling) and size of the room. If wall mount strobes are used, candela requirements are based on whether one or four strobes are used. If ceiling mount strobes are used, candela requirements are based on ceiling height. Over 1,000 Hospitals in Gujarat do not have Valid Fire Safety Certificates: Govt Tells Supreme Court In Bharuch, 18 people, including 16 patients died in a fire that occurred at a COVID-19 hospital. “Though the Hon'ble Court vide its order dated December 18th, 2020, had issued directions in the context of COVID hospitals, as on date, there are 5,705 hospitals in the state, of which 4,604 are possessing fire NOC under the 2013 Act," the affidavit said, adding fire safety certificates to more than 2,500 hospitals have been issued or renewed since December 2020. th

AHMEDABAD: As may as 1,101 hospitals in Gujarat still do not possess any valid fire safety certificates issued under the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, as per the affidavit submitted by the state government in the Supreme Court recently. The apex court is hearing a suo motu PIL (Public Interest Litigation) on the issue of proper treatment of COVID-19 patients and dignified handling of dead bodies, which will come up for hearing. In the affidavit, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, Mukesh Puri said that as of date, there are 5,705 hospitals in Gujarat, of which 4,604 possess fire NOCs (No Objection Certificates) under the 2013 Act but 1,101 hospitals do not possess these NOCs. The NOC is issued by authorities concerned after applicant hospitals comply with fire safety measures. Detailing the action taken, the government said authorities had issued show-cause notices to over 1,500 non-compliant hospitals, disconnected the water supply of 30 hospitals, partially sealed 185 hospital premises for want of fire safety certificates. These premises were reopened only after ensuring their due compliance, it said. As per the affidavit, only 47 hospitals are currently treating COVID-19 patients in Gujarat, and all of them possess the requisite fire NOCs. 50

As of January 15 , 2021, there were 328 dedicated COVID hospitals in Gujarat, of which 261 were found to possess valid fire NOCs. As on date, out of these 328 hospitals, 298 have valid fire NOCs. For the remaining 30 hospitals, show-cause notices were issued, the affidavit said. The government also said that "due to measures like mock drills, an inspection of hospital premises by fire officers, training etc, "nine incidents of fire were controlled and (fire) extinguished at the incipient stage preventing the loss of property and lives during the peak of second COVID wave in Gujarat". Two of these fires were reported in th th Ahmedabad on May 7 and May 17 , two th th in Surat on April 25 and May 10 , two in th th Rajkot on May 7 and May 20 , two in th th Jamnagar on May 14 and May 18 , and th one in Bhavnagar on May 12 , it said. The government said this notification didn't mean any relaxation in the issuance of a fire safety certificate and the statutory compliance with the fire safety norms under the Fire Safety Act, 2013. The top court in the order dated June 19th had asked the Gujarat government to clarify whether its notification granting BU relaxation is in breach of the directions issued by the court. "While a Fire Safety Certificate is one of the necessary prerequisites for grant of BU permission, there is no requirement of BU permission for granting the fire safety certificate. Relaxation with regard to extension of time for obtaining BU Permission does not permit any relaxation in the requirement for issuance of Fire Safety Certificate," the government had stated, adding that authorities have been empowered to initiate all actions, including coercive actions, in case of non-compliance. "This notification of 08-07-2021 does not, in any manner whatsoever, restrict the powers vested under Fire Prevention Act, 2013, nor does it grant any extended timeline, to any hospital for obtaining a Fire NOC," the affidavit said.

So, when a disaster or crisis of any kind strikes, the human element should take priority over business and industry. It really is that simple. You can also provide links to donation sites in your email messages or signature. Never underestimate the power of even the simplest act of kindness. After a natural disaster like a hurricane, there's usually a great demand for demolition and reconstruction of buildings and structures. But you don't have to own a tool belt or be a do-ityourself repair guru to be a huge help. First responders, agency workers and volunteers will be working long hours to rebuild communities. They're all going to need food, water and supplies. They may also need child or elderly care for any dependents in their care, especially if schools and assisted living centers have been impacted. As is appropriate, encourage employees to be errand runners, food deliverers, baby sitters, clothing distributors or gift card donors. In the wake of a larger-scale emergency across a broader area, as in the case of a pandemic, it may be trickier to coordinate responses, especially if your company has remote team members in different communities. What's acceptable and allowed in one place my not be permitted in another town - even when they're just miles away. Still, you can help team members cope by being a role model. Lead by example your employees and other business owners and managers. Get involved with grassroots volunteer efforts in your own area. First, you'll want to help those customers directly affected by the disaster or crisis. That means providing the necessities and survival items people may need from a humanitarian standpoint. If your volunteer and recovery efforts don't specifically include your customers, consider creating a separate initiative that addresses their needs if possible. You may even contemplate partnering with them as part of your volunteer efforts, in order to provide assistance to a larger population. The second prong of this strategy is about the business side of caring for customers. You may be working to serve them with only a skeleton crew, a result of displaced or disoriented employees. Communicating with customers is key, so that they understand what's going on and how you're dealing with it. They'll likely be reasonable and understand that you're not able to provide your normal level of service. However, let them know what you're doing to handle at least their most critical needs, and then make sure to deliver on that promise. Yes, this may mean extra hours for employees who are able and willing. Yet most of your "work family" will want to help. Do what you can to ensure that employees who go the extra mile during this difficult time feel appreciated. Feed them dinner if they're working into the night, offer them a flex day when things return to normal, or any other incentive you feel is appropriate. 6. Encourage Gracious Receiving Disasters and crises often turn the tables on hardchargers and caregivers. People who are used to helping others may suddenly find themselves in need of significant help. staff who need extra support that being a gracious recipient will not only help them work through their own trauma, but also gives volunteers and donors a sense of purpose and fulfillment. When you encourage both gracious receiving and responsive support, you help build long-lasting teams that work well together. 7. Address Survivor's Guilt It's not unusual for people who weren't directly impacted by a disaster or crisis to experience what's known as survivor's guilt. When we see others suffering on such a large scale, we often feel guilty. Why were we spared when coworkers, friends and family are going through something so tragic? Remind your team that guilt doesn't help anyone. To shake it off, try to put your energy and emotion into helping others. Look at service as your way of showing gratitude for your good fortune, while helping a wonderful cause. Service can be a welcome remedy for survivors guilt, but do keep in mind that mental health can be impacted, too. Plus, some team members may be dealing with outright grief from the loss of a loved one. Give individuals space to take care of themselves. 8. Deal with the Distraction of Trauma As employees return to work, you may hear comments like, “I feel so useless. I should be out there helping people instead of just sitting here doing this.” Your Responses Might Take the Following Forms: • Encourage them to talk about what they've already done for their neighborhood or local non-profits. Acknowledge their good work, whether it was tearing out wet sheet rock or washing a neighbor's laundry. Remind them of how much they've already helped. • Remember that not everyone, especially introverts, may feel comfortable talking about these things in a group setting. Some people may prefer a private conversation. • Explain to them that coming back to work revives the local economy and helps the entire region get back on its feet. That's why it's important to pace yourself, your employees and your company. Remember that everyone has been changed as a result of this event. Many may be traumatized, having spent days or weeks dealing with their loss and the losses of those around them. They may have witnessed firsthand people's lives piled on their front lawns or tended a loved one who suffered from illness or passed away. No one can experience this magnitude of destruction and not be changed, and it will take time for everyone to work through it. There's no rulebook or set timeline for getting back to normal, or even a "new normal." Everyone processes change differently. Check on your team's well-being throughout the weeks following a disaster or disruptive event. You'll likely be able to recognize when something is "not right" about them. Don't take that lightly. Remind them, as often as necessary, of your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if you have one in place, along with any other resources available to them.

 Prepare for Future Disasters Once things are back to normal, make sure you review and update your company's disaster recovery plan while the event is still fresh on your mind. What worked and didn't work during the recent disaster or crisis? Request feedback from your leadership team and key employees, and then provide the updated plan to everyone in your organization.
