During the summer we like to do a wide range of activities. Some of us have practice. Others clown around and still yet many of us go abroad to see the world. Springfield High School's homecoming dance was held on the 5th of October. At the dance, the homecoming court was announced. The following day, October 6th, was a continuation of the homecoming weekend. Saturday, the football game, was an eventful day where Dante Ferguson and Mandy Dilenno were crowned King and Queen and the football team led the Cougars to victory.

The Lady Cougars brought their best game this season and it really showed. They not only Won the title of District Championships, but also made it to the playoffs for the state title. Congratulations on the great season ladies!

At the banquet, Andrew Brophy was awarded the MVP award, Dennis Wilson recieved the Most Improved Award, Greb Lieb obtained the Ed Johnson Coaches Award and Michael Kelly the Rookie Award. The Springfield High School Marching Band is more than keeping rhythm to the beat, they rally and encourage audiences who look on as various play for victory. Under the leadership of Mr. Cooper and Mr. Blandford, the drum majors, Ryan Carson, Marybeth Kellet, Gina Ranalli, and Brittany Baselice step up to take charge and conduct the group of our talented peers!

In the fall of this year, the STW put together the play "Death Takes A Holiday" directed by Mr. Gildea and Jen Fosco. The play portrayed a few days in the life of "Death" as he takes a holiday from his job and has the life of a normal person. The actors and actresses did a wonderful job capturing the effect and the stage crew put together a terrific set. Bravo!

The Vo-Tech program is a program that prepares students for jobs that they are interested in. Within this program, there are many fields offered such as carpentry, culinary arts, electrical studies and mechanics. Med-Tech is a program that is only offered to those in twelfth grade. There are currently two classes. They either go to Taylor Hospital or Crozer Keystone. The students apply themselves by following around the different occupations in the hospital to get a better feel for things.

DANcE MARATHON

This event was truly a highlight of the year. This year those who participated in Thon were able to make an unbelievable amount of money, $92.675.35! A lot of time and effort goes behind this whole event by both Mr. Gildea, Nick Smythe and the rest of the leadership team. The event was a sight to see. 15 hours may have seemed like it was a long time, but For The Kids, it was worth it! Awesome job to those who took part in Thon this year and keep it up!
