I am Saee Thorave, currently studying in my fourth year at Vivekanand Education Society College of Architecture and this portfolio is a curated collection of my work over the past three and a half years.
I believe architecture is all about creating an experience, it simultaneously reflects and influences culture and can shape an inclusive society.
Learning about sustainable and contemporary design in recent years has convinced me that it is the future of architecture.

PROVIDING A CONDUCTIVE LEARNING AND INTERACTIVE SOCIAL SPACE. CRITICAL REGIONALISM. IT FOCUSES NOT ON JUST ACCESSING INFORMATION, BUT ALSO A PLACE FOR
RAISING THE PLINTH LEVEL TILL 1.8m WITH STAIRS AND SLOPE, THEREFORE CREATING DEPRESSION OF 0.9m FOR WATER BODIES.
PLACING SLEEK LIBRARY BLOCKS FACING EACH OTHER AND CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER THUS INCREASING COMPACTNESS.
RAISING LIBRARY BOCK ON STILT AND ADDING CANTEEN BLOCK CONNECTED TO THE ADMIN AND ENTRANCE FOYER AT THE GROUND LEVEL.
ADDING AUDITORIUM AND SERVICE BLOCK SUCK THAT ALL THE BLOCKS GET THE VIEW TOWARDS UTSAV CHOWK AT NORTH AND MOUNTAINS AT NORTH-WEST.

THE HUGE MASS OF 2 BLOCKS WAS CUT INTO 4 PARTS SUCH THAT STUDENTS, PROFESSORS, AND FAMILIES HAVE THEIR SEPARATE BLOCKS TO MAINTAIN PRIVACY AND THEY CAN COME TOGETHER TO THE COMMON AMENITIES PROMOTING CO-LIVING.
THE SITE WAS RAISED CREATING A SLOPE SUCH THAT THE SLOPE ELEVATES ONE’S SIGHT.
FURTHER, THE MASS OF BLOCKS WAS CUT VERTICALLY CREATING A STEPPED PROFILE CONNECTING THE VEGETATION WITH THE SLOPE.

SITE- The site chosen is Juhu beach, Mumbai, Maharashtra. A casual long beach strech where matches take place, locals come to spend time, watch sunset, sunrise and hence becomes ideal for the café.
PRAVAAS, a cafe that doesn't only look and feel right for the location, but also have an updated sense of aesthetic.
With MODERN VERNACULAR theme of design, the cafe not only tell a story about food but also shows the pravaas (a journey) of Mumbai with vernacular interiors blending along with the modernism.
