TheThesisprojectaimstorevivethelostheritageofweavinginChendamangalamvillage, Kerala, known for its rich history of Handloom weaving. The trading is fading since the weavers are reluctant to stay in the weaving industry due to the low wages. The village suered a major setback in 2018 due to the floods, which caused a loss of 15 crores and disrupted the daily work for weavers. As a result, Chendamangalam is at a risk of losing its longstandinghandloomtradition.

The project addresses various problems by studying dierent textile buisnesses abd proposingtprevivetheexistingweavingfactoryasaspacewhereallthestakeholderscan come together to reinforcing the weaving culture Further, the project explores how architecturecanbeofpeople,bemodernandyetberooted.

WHY CHENDAMANGALAM?

To revitalize the existing handloom centre that would serve as an inclusive platform among di erent stakeholders and activities within the handloom industry, thus reviving the local art of Chendamangalam.

DESIGN QUESTION

How architecture can be of people, be modern in its approach and yet be rooted?

Weaving cluster- major setback with loss of 15 crores.

The project is an eort to establish a transit oriented development in Chembur naka, Mumbai. The project is master planning scheme for Chembur naka area and it oers a type of urban development that includes design for commercial complex including Retail, Ofice, amenities and residential integratedintowalkableneighbourhoodwithinhalfmileofqualitypublictransportation.Thescopeof project includes design of metro station and its integration with commercial complex and existing monorail. The project connects the transit systems with commercial complex eventually increasing footfall of project creating a space having public Realm. Ground Level is dedicated re establishing market spaces for existing vendors. Design promotes place making as an idea with universal accessibilityandSecurityforspace.
