Barrydale Hand Weavers has evolved from a humble small-town venture to become the proud producer of various exceptionally crafted lines of handwoven products. The business was started in 2007 by Mavuma Tivane (Master Weaver) and Carol Morris (Designer). Since then, it has grown and now employs 29 local crafters, making it one of the village’s main employers and one of the largest hand weavers in South Africa. The weavery doors are always open to welcome visitors and promote the ancient craft of hand weaving. The business is rooted in a commitment to the community and nature, championed by the artisans at its core. The style reflects a fusion of tradition and innovation, creating a legacy of exceptional textiles with a rich history that extends beyond its modern incarnation.
