BRT Construction still on track. Tshwane Rapid Bus Transit‘s construction is on track with phase one nearing completion. The city plans to have the first busses fairing passengers by the end of the year. The multi-million rand project is divided into three phases and should be completed by 2018. When completed, busses will run from Kopanong in Soshanguve, via Rainbow Junction, through the CBD and to Menlyn, Hatfield, Mamelodi and finally Attridgeville. The first phase is 7.2 km long and begins on corner Nana Sita and Paul Kruger streets in town. It will go via Sunnyside and then Hatfield. This route will also connect to the Gautrain station in Hatfiied, The busses will run from 5 in the morning till midnight everyday, with commuters wait-

ing no more than 10 minutes for the next bus. Busses will be fitted with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and security cameras. GPS monitoring will enable commuters to track busses via a cellphone app. There hasn’t been word on how much different trips will cost as yet but judging by “Rea Vaya” fares, “A Re Yeng” will be cheaper than taxis. An emergency line will be fitted on all busses. At the press of a button you will be able to speak directly with the TRT offices should you have a complaint; right there and then.
