Since the Order to Collect {O2C) project's inception, there have been challenges and improvements brought about by the project in several business units. Case sheets were previously sent to Finance from the blood banks in archive boxes. These archive boxes, with cases, were collected by external service providers to be scanned and sent back to SAN BS. When case sheets were required as evidence in legal matters or during audits, electronic copies had to be sought; however, they could not always be traced. Other issues included inaccurate medical aid and private patients' information, and missing information had to be acquired from multiple sources, including the medical portal and hospital wards or admissions departments. Several highlights have been identified as a result of the O2C project's implementation: •
The traceability of case sheets that are electronically stored has improved.
•
Scanning in the Blood Banks (BB) vs Meditech registrations has improved.
•
There is an improvement of the Mediswitch rejections for private patients.
•
Blood Bank employees have been trained and informed regarding patient demographics/information needed with the registration.
•
Blood Bank Finance Administrators also assist by importing , checking scanned documents, scanning the final complete copy of the case sheets, and dispatching them to record clerks in QA.
