The big icon and big letter physician Let us be honest, not everyone is able to use small devices. Some have difficulty reading small letters and prefer a bigger display of icons. You should consider a 10 to 11-inch display that allows you to setup ClinNext 10 MD with a bigger screen size icon.

This will allow you to easily use the touch screen while navigating the application. Since this device will be bigger in size and carrying it can be a concern, we recommend you consider a cover for your device with a strap, this way you can still use both of your hands without the hassle of opening or closing a bag to reach the device. Also, when having a bigger device, the concern of leaving it accidentally in a patient room or counter should be considered.

Always on the go, no time for Wi-Fi

If your rounds as a physician are always on the go, meaning that your calls are received when you are in an elevator, you are giving instructions in the cafeteria, and you are checking patient charts in meetings, then you are considered a physician always on the go. Using a device that is limited to a Wi-Fi spot is not the recommended device for you.

Many tablets and devices now have the option to add a Data Plan with your preferred cellular provider, this can be added to your existing data plan or you can check for specials given specifically to the health community in many of the providers. These devices do not depend on having a Wi-Fi password to be able to connect to ClinNext 10 MD, you are owner of your data plan and can choose to connect to Wi-Fi or use your data plan anytime.

Always glove wearing

If as a physician you are usually wearing gloves, you probably have already seen the difficulty when using a touch screen device. In this case we recommend the use of a stylus pen. This will allow you to use your device without having to remove every time your gloves. A stylus also has the benefit on being more precise in the touch of small icons or in navigating the scrollbar.

Many tablets offer a Stylus Pen sold as an accessory.

As a physician you have probably seen by now that many applications have been developed to recognize speech. This technology has been getting better and better in the last few years, so it is no problem when it comes to ClinNext 10 MD. Usually speech recognition is built into the device or you can use free of charge apps to recognize your voice.

However, in busy nurse stations and patient rooms, sometimes speech is not ideal with just a device. If you wish to use speech recognition for your notes, then you should consider having a microphone accessory.

These accessories are sold separately from tablets and computers and come in a range of prices. Some are connected through Bluetooth while other have a cable to connect them to your audio jack in the tablet. When considering this, you should really try them first. Having a Bluetooth or connected device in your ear, might not be as comfortable for you as for another person.

Apple iPad The iPad is probably the most famous device and comes in many styles. The first device we recommend is the iPad mini. It features a 7.9-inch display with high definition of colors which they call a Retina display.

Apple even sells an Apple Pencil which you can choose to buy separately and use it as a stylus. The iPad comes automatically with Safari as a browser, but Google Chrome browser can be downloaded from the AppStore. A key benefit of the iPad mini is the battery.

Their battery is designed to run for a whole day, that means less worrying about running out in the middle of patient rounds. In terms of security it features a Touch ID fingerprint sensor that will prevent any wrongdoing from unauthorized users if left unattended. The weight of the iPad is also a plus, at less than 1 pound (0.66 pound) it is the lightest device on the market. Apple also has the Air Pods Pro which are Bluetooth audio devices that go discreetly in the ear of the user and feature a noise cancelling and background reduction.

They are great when using speech recognition or answering calls. While Apple does not sell covers specifically for clinical personnel, companies like Seal Shield have screen protector that you can even clean with alcohol and covers that can resist spills of waters.

Other models to consider could be the iPad Pro or iPad Air. Both are bigger in size from 10.5 inches to 12.0 inches. The iPad Pro has the Face ID technology instead of the Touch ID and comes with a bigger storage.

All models of iPads come with the additional feature of adding a Data Plan, make sure that you make this decision before buying since the models are different and the Cellular Data iPad is more expensive. iPad prices range from $399 for the Wi-Fi Only iPad Mini or $599 for the iPad Mini with Cellular Data.

The tablet features 13 hours of battery on a single charge and comes with the Stylus Pen included. Its weight is about a pound and has the optional external storage capacity. It can be combined with the Galaxy Buds+ which are very discreet in the ear.

The Samsung tablet family uses an operating system of Android and this allows them to extend their accessory range. These tablets can be combined with an external keyboard for longer note typing. In terms of their built-in speech recognition, on testing, Samsung tablets have proven more effective in understanding speech.

The smaller and simplest model is the Amazon Tablet 7 which features a 7-inch display. It comes with the possibility to extend the storage capability using a micro SD card. One of the best things on this model is that Amazon provides rugged covers that protect your device in the case of a fall. Battery charge is a bit less than other models in the most affordable version which only gives 7 hours.
