Making our patients HAPI Alternative methods of pain management like acupuncture are usually out of reach due to cost and often not covered by insurance. While we have been offering acupuncture, trigger point and steroid injections for years under the leadership of Dr. Tinh Vuong, our new HAPI Clinic (Holistic Approach Pain Intervention) integrates Western and Eastern medicine approaches to pain management and includes minimally invasive and non-invasive techniques to help patients deal with acute and chronic pain more effectively.

In partnership with UCLA, our Roving Medical Team expanded with services at Silverlake Presbyterian Church.

Specialty care for the most underserved in our community SCC is proud to continue to introduce new specialty programs to our patients — services they otherwise would not have access to. These programs redefine the meaning of community health providing elevated whole person care to the most underserved in our community.

CenteringPregnancy Our new CenteringPregnancy program works to combat the unnecessary and high mortality rates experienced by women of color in our community. Centering allows expecting moms to better connect with their doctor and other pregnant women. Each 90-minute group session allows women to visit privately with their doctor and provides a safe and nurturing space for them to share and connect with other women due at the same time. The groups are led by a medical provider and health educator and cover topics like breastfeeding, nutrition, labor and delivery.

Groups are conducted in English and Spanish and begin around 16 weeks, through the end of the pregnancy. The first group began meeting in March and we have received positive feedback from our patients.

“This is my first pregnancy and I initially felt scared. The group has only met a few times, but I already feel more at ease and know that I will be more prepared when the baby arrives” says Jackie.

Dream shower makeover After nearly 30 years the shower at our Hollywood location received a much-needed facelift! Now our unhoused neighbors can enjoy a free, hot shower in a serene and inviting environment.

Everett has lived in LA for more than 30 years. He’s had a stable job in construction for decades, but with his rent steadily increasing and his pay not keeping up, he found himself homeless. He sold his car and most of his belongings and now lives in a storage unit near our Hollywood location.

Everett has been a patient at the Clinic for years and has more recently been utilizing the shower. “I depend on the Clinic now more than I ever thought I would,” he says. “Having a new, clean shower that I can walk to every day is not only important for cleanliness, but also for my mental health.

I am so grateful to the Clinic for all they do for me.”
