California Health Care Foundation highlights Mobile Clinic success

After nine months in operation, we are seeing that bringing health care to vulnerable individuals in their homes, where they feel safe and secure, has proven to be effective.

A piece written by California Health Care Foundation highlights the victories and challenges of the Mobile Clinic and working with a population that has neglected their own self-care and has multiple health problems. “We have to build a lot of trust and rapport,” says Samantha Kumpf, Physician Assistant. “Sometimes when we encounter people, we might say ‘Hi’ to them the first ten times before they’re actually ready to engage with us.”

The Mobile Clinic has had a lot of success engaging new patients and referring clients who need follow up care to one of our five sites. With that in mind, we are working towards shifting the paradigm from reactive care to preventative health care.
