Our longstanding academic partnership with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has been a vital part of our commitment to care. We’ve been helping to train physicians together for over 40 years — and we’re excited to extend that partnership with our new pediatric residency program, launched in conjunction with Cedars at our Virgil Family Health Center this July.
According to Dr. Anna Noble, Associate Medical Director of Academic Affairs and Interim CMO, working at Saban offers pediatric residents a different kind of learning. She explains, “Here they gain experience in preventive care, which is an important complement to the hospitalbased work they do at Cedars. Having both ensures our residents receive a greater breadth of training with kids.” Dr. Noble adds that the program also keeps our clinic doctors on their toes because residents ask a lot of questions.
EXTENDING OUR IMPACT
The program will support eight residents per year. Over time, it will allow us to expand access to services for our communities. It will also give babies born at Cedars-Sinai a path to continuing care — if they don‘t have a pediatrician, we can continue to see them here in the Clinic. It’s just one more way we’re building partnerships with local academic institutions to better serve our shared communities.
“The pediatric residency program keeps us fresh and innovative, and allows us to maintain a more academic environment.”

The reality TV industry showed up in force to honor Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, acclaimed unscripted producers and co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television Nonfiction at our 7th Annual Let’s Get Real

This year’s Communicator Award honorees were Willow Bay, The Lede Company, and Louisa Hager, who have helped us spread the word about the Saban mission.

Our Creators in Action event celebrated the great work of content creators Jay Shetty, Chief Purpose Officer of Calm, and Malik Ducard, Chief Content Officer at Pinterest.

What a fun (and successful) day on the links — sponsors teamed up for 18 holes plus post-golf cocktails in honor of entrepreneur and philanthropist, Paul Wachter.
BRINGING DONORS TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
We are lucky to have a community of generous donors whose support allows us to provide vital services to the most vulnerable members of our community. These fundraising events raised more than $650,000.
Donations from our events this year have provided:
820 MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS
315 DENTAL APPOINTMENTS
250 THERAPY SESSIONS
2,505 PRESCRIPTIONS
Thank you for continuing to help us achieve our goal of providing outstanding, compassionate care to anyone who needs it. We couldn’t do it without you!

A MOTHER’S DAY TO REMEMBER
Having a baby is one of life’s most precious moments — whether you’re a first-time mom or a fifth. To celebrate Mother’s Day this year, we treated our new moms and moms-to-be to a professional photo shoot with their little bundles of joy, capturing the moment so they can treasure it forever.

Newdirector, growingservices
Mental health has always been a top priority at Saban Community Clinic. And expanding access to care is critical to our mission. That’s why we’re excited to introduce you to our new Director of Behavioral Health, Dr. Stefanie Smith.

“

Access is the first issue we have to tackle. Our goal is to be able to serve more people, because there’s such a huge demand for our services. We have to get creative.
Dr. Smith is a clinical psychologist and trauma expert. A native Angeleno, she has over 30 years of experience in direct service, including 15 in nonprofit leadership. With a dual focus on integrated health and trauma-informed systems, she is an ideal fit for our holistic program, which takes into account the connection between chronic illness and mental health.
Dr. Smith is excited to strengthen ties with the many other care areas within Saban where there’s a natural tie to mental health: pain management, diabetes, and perinatal care to name just a few.
The primary goal of the Behavioral Health Clinic is to expand access to mental healthcare — starting with Saban patients and broadening out into the wider community. To complement the group therapy sessions we’ve offered for years, we received a new grant to develop sound therapy sessions, using drumming and other sound inputs to shift a patient’s mental state.
Under Dr. Smith’s leadership, we’re extending our trauma-informed initiatives. Through this lens, we are re-examining our policies and procedures to better serve our patients and staff. Taking their lived experiences into account supports our commitment to becoming a more culturally sensitive, anti-racist organization.
