Proud since 1967

The Saban crew was all decked out and in full force at the 2-day, Los Angeles Pride in the Park festival at LA State Historic Park. Our colorful booth engaged attendees with educational trivia, giveaways and promoted Clinic services, including a free PrEP trial (A daily pill that reduces the risk of contracting HIV by 99.7% from sex).

Our PrEP campaign is a part of the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) efforts, a federal initiative, with the goal of reducing new HIV infections in the US by 90% by 2030. The campaign specifically targets the Latinx/Hispanic community, with information available in both English and Spanish due to the profound health disparities experienced by the Latinx/ Hispanic community.

In 2019, Latinx/Hispanic people accounted for 29% of the 36,801 new HIV diagnoses in the US. This community remains at an increased risk of acquiring HIV when compared to other groups. The lifetime risk of acquiring HIV among Latinx/Hispanic individuals is nearly 3 times higher than white individuals. The risk is even higher for Latinx/Hispanic men who have sex with men (1 in 5), even when compared to white men who have sex with men (1 in 11).

The Clinic has been part of curbing the HIV epidemic since the 80s. Our work here continues, as despite the proven high effectiveness of PrEP at preventing HIV, PrEP uptake remains low, especially among the Latinx/Hispanic community. www.sabanprep.com
