A multigenerational family-oriented sport

We sat with Mbuyiseni Mkhize the chairperson of the Willowfontain Rural Horse Racing Club. He is also a horseman, “we got into this thing from our fathers and they also started from their fathers” . That is a remarkable entity that should always be maintained in our communities. A sport that not only teaches skills and companionship but is also inclusive. Families with horses all had a vested interest in the races. “It is a family structured sport, the whole family is encouraged to participate in, even the ladies' race as well because it is a family sport. Hence there is a ladies' category in every event. We take that seriously” .
