What is NSF?
NSF, the National Sanitation Foundation, is an independent organization establishing health standards for various industries, including food. Its crucial aspect is NSF certification, ensuring food grade lubricants are non-toxic, safe for food contact, and meet stringent guidelines. The certification guarantees that lubricants won't contaminate raw materials or products, ensuring consumer safety. NSF certification assures food processors, regulators, and consumers of the lubricants' high safety and compliance with industry regulations, giving confidence in their suitability for food processing environments.
Rymax products have various NSF approvals with Halal and Kosher registrations.
NSF What the approval is for
H1 Food grade lubricants that can be used in case of incidental food contact, such as on gaskets or seals of tank closures.
H2 Non-food grade lubricants that are applied to equipment and machine parts in areas where there is no risk of contact with edible products.
H3 Soluble oils, are used to prevent rust on equipment like hooks and trolleys. If there is contact with edible products, the equipment must be cleaned before reuse.
HT1 Heat transfer fluids used in food processing approved for primary and secondary heating/cooling systems, safe for incidental food contact.
3H Lubricants known as release agents prevent meat and poultry from sticking to surfaces during processing (grills, loaf pans, cutters, boning benches, and chopping boards).
K1 Chemically acceptable solvent cleaners that are used in non-processing areas of official establishments under the Federal Meat and Poultry Products Inspection Program. Require thorough washing and rinsing before returning to the processing area.
K2 Approved solvents by Federal Meat and Poultry inspection establishments to clean electronic instruments and devices intolerant to water. Must remove or protect food products and packaging, and dissipate odors before re-exposure.
A1 Approved general cleaners for all surfaces and cleaning devices in all departments. Require removal/protection of food products and packaging. Thorough rinsing with potable water after use.
C1 Cleaners are approved for use as general cleaner/degreasers in inedible product processing and exterior areas of official establishments under the Federal Meat, Poultry, Shell Egg Grading, and Egg Products Inspection Programs. Must not mask unsanitary odors and ensure no odor or fragrance penetrates the edible product area.
