Gunderbooka The beauty of the Australian landscape. The place I first encountered red dirt. As it was beneath my feet it felt solid yet somewhat loose. Picking it up was soft and fine as it sifted through my fingers. Truly a unique experience, the ability to walk with emus and kangaroos through the iconic landscape of the Gunderbooka ranges was truly magical. 31/06/2022 -30.518678228793583, 145.71323492449486

EmuLake Along a dirt road the woolshed stands tall. Frozen in time but now the remanence of time. Light casts a spell through awnings and holes reflecting timber that has seen and dealt with all. Its extinction based on a waterless lake to inhabitable to justify presence. Today however the lake is full. A rare site i have no doubt. Sit as a shearer and watch the sun down over the emu. As you turn back Kinchega silhouettes in a perfect orange sky. 04/07/2022

LakeMungo Red dirt to the whiter sands of Lake Mungo. A place where you begin to understand your place in time. 50,000 years of stories and footsteps which lay under yours. Standing in a waterless lake the landscape begins to tell you stories of its past. Woolsheds and homestead lay dead in basins, remains to glisten under an outback sun. You only can begin to imagine what this place was like in its original state. To walk and understand the land of the Barkinji, Ngyiampaa and Muti Muti people would be a lesson like no other. 05/07/2022

Grenfell
The final stop on the voyage. The town represents preconceived ideas of what a rural town was 10 days ago. However, met at face value underneath the layers were people I've never experienced. A place of togetherness, trust and respect. As a result, it's a town proud of its past, present and future. This is within people and its vernacular. However, it raised the question of whether the architecture of Grenfell or any of that matter holds its value without people, or do people make architecture and the built form what it is? Without conversations and stories shared would place and its architecture be as memorable. 07/07/2022
