The results of this study suggest that Lipopen Ultra provides consistent drug delivery over time without instance of excessive peaks or troughs. It also shows Lipopen Ultra to be a more effective transdermal delivery vehicle than PLO Gel.

n HRT Supreme and HRT Natural Cream Progesterone from both formulations tested, permeated across human skin samples at a similar and consistent rate. There were no statistically significant difference between formulations in terms of flux values, or percentage of applied progesterone that penetrated stratum corneum. This conclusion suggests that formulations in Freedom HRT Natural Cream and Freedom HRT Supreme Cream demonstrate favorable percutaneous absorption of Progesterone.

n Poloxitol The light microscopy analyses indicates that Freedom Poloxitol dispersant is effective at dispersing Itraconazole in purified water, and also results in smaller, more uniform effective particle size, with minimal to no clumping or aggregates. A finer more evenly dispersed particle may increase absorption and efficacy.

MCPHS University Thanks the Southern New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Crowded living conditions, cats, dogs and other animals, shoe boxes filled with medications: these are some of the things that pharmacy and nursing students encounter during their clinical rotation with the VNA of Manchester and Southern New Hampshire. Medication reconciliation is the focus of the elective, but it encompasses much more. The students, along with a nurse or physical therapist, visit patients after they have transitioned from a hospital or nursing facility back to their own home. While the nursing student checks vitals and performs dressing changes, the pharmacy student is reviewing the medications in the home and comparing it to the discharge paperwork.

On May 20, 2013, Frank Iannarone III was recognized for his outstanding service and commitment to the students of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. He was awarded the 2013 Ernest Mario School Preceptor of the Year Award at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey’s, commencement ceremony in New Brunswick, NJ. As Preceptor of the Year, Mr. Iannarone was selected from hundreds of pharmacy preceptors Frank Iannarone III and acknowledged by the school for his dedication to developing and mentoring pharmacy students at his independently owned Madison Pharmacy.

Having graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, Mr. Iannarone has seen the value of practice experience and has continued to be a tremendous advocate of student development through community outreach programs and one-on-one interactions with his patients. During the four or five week rotation segments, students are given opportunities to apply information learned in school and gain hands-on experience through patient interactions and prescription processing. Students have created and delivered a variety of programs over the year covering specific disease states such as diabetes and high blood pressure to more general programs on medication disposal and Medicare prescription program information. In addition to training students at his pharmacy and in the community, Mr. Iannarone has also supported student learning during student organization meetings at the school by providing his insights on the value of owning a pharmacy.

Based on his commitment to the students of Rutgers University and excellence in the profession of pharmacy, Mr. Iannarone was awarded the prestigious designation of Preceptor of the Year for 2013.

The Class of 2014 selects one faculty preceptor to receive this honor. Dr. Lusk precepts acute care pharmacist interns in the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System located in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Lusk attended the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and received her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2010. Following graduation, she completed two years of clinical pharmacy residency training at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis specializing in Internal Medicine. Dr. Lusk joined the faculty of the University of the Incarnate Word in 2012.

She serves as a Senior Board Member of the Central Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and as a member of the Feik School of Pharmacy’s Residency Advisory Committee. Her research interests include cardiology and infectious disease.
