Abreu receives 2012 CUTR Transportation Achievement Award

T

he 2012 CUTR Transportation Achievement Awards event was held on November 1, 2012, in Tampa at the USF Embassy Suites. Honored this year was José Abreu, P.E., Director of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. He oversees operations of the Miami International Airport (MIA) and four general aviation airports in Miami, managing a $6.4 billion infrastructure improvement program at MIA and Dade County’s general aviation airports. Prior to his José Abreu, P.E. appointment at MIA in 2005, he served as Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for two and a half years, the culmination of an 18-year career at FDOT. A graduate of the University of Miami, Abreu is a licensed professional engineer and a certified engineering contractor and the recipient of numerous state and national awards. In
