OR MORE THAN A DECADE, social media was more than just something I used—it was something I taught. I built strategies around it, spoke about it, ran a boutique social media marketing agency, and even worked with Social Media Examiner, one of the largest organizations in the world dedicated to teaching social media marketing. I was fully inside the machine. And for a while, it worked. But let’s be honest about what social media is now. When you open most platforms today, you’re not seeing your friends or your community. You’re seeing ads, algorithms, AI-generated content, and division. You’re seeing bots designed to intentionally irritate and provoke you, with just enough cruelty to keep you engaged. We all feel it. And we all know it’s addictive. I’ve believed for a while that in 10 to 15 years, we’ll look at social media the same way we look at smoking today. It won’t disappear altogether, but most people will have moved on and realized it’s not good for them. Something else has also become obvious recently—people don’t actually connect with brands the way brands think they do. I don’t care what Canon says. I care what Peter McKinnon, Casey Neistat, and David Manning say. I care about real people who I know, like, and trust— humans with experience, not logos with slogans. Yes, when I buy a product, I want good content to help me use it better. But I don’t believe that content needs to live inside a never-ending, rage-fueled feed designed to keep me scrolling instead of living. That brings us to RV Today. Our mission has always been to encourage people to get outside. To unplug. To explore. To think outside and live outside. Increasingly, it doesn’t make sense to me to preach that lifestyle while also saying, “And don’t forget to follow us on social media.” You’re already subscribed. You already receive the magazine. And while we offer a digital edition, most of our readers consume it intentionally, on desktops or tablets, not sandwiched between ads, outrage, and algorithmic noise. So as we kick off 2026, RV Today is suspending all social media accounts. Not as a stunt, not out of frustration, and not because we don’t value connection, but because we believe creating one more thing to follow doesn’t serve our readers or our mission. RV Today will continue to be a content brand, just not a social content brand. Our goal isn’t to pull you into another digital rabbit hole you didn’t ask for. It’s to encourage you to put the phone down, go outside, and actually live the life you bought your RV for. This isn’t stepping away from connection; it’s choosing a better one.

What has been your most memorable RVing moment? Personally, my first trip to the Florida Keys where I could take my tiny home on wheels, my spouse, and my dogs with me. Professionally, seeing the joy on my clients’ faces when they arrive to pick up their newly renovated RV—it’s literally my favorite thing! Can you tell us about what led you to RVing, and how your RV journey led to your business? During my divorce in 2019, I began to realize what was important to me and what I truly wanted in life. I knew the big house full of stuff did not bring me happiness. This soul-searching led to a desire for a more simplified life where I wouldn’t be tied down to a brick and mortar home. I wanted the flexibility to travel and the ability to use my creativity. The RV lifestyle seemed like the perfect solution.
