A NIGHT AT Students had a jocular experience to ponder on shores of juhu and feel the grains of sand and lend ears to the tides in a pleasant evening. students tinted their hands with jagua tattoos of local craftswomen. The indigenous dainties pav bhaji, the cool blue cola, sweet bitter tamarind paani puri altogether painted a good ending to the day.

His academic interests include theoretical writing on Architecture and Urbanism.He has been in private practice of architecture, urban design since 1992. He has worked on numerous private and public housing/ institutional commissions across the country. His work was discussed at UDRI and CEPT Ahmadabad. He has contributed chapter writing (co-author) on “Unraveling Redevelopment” in book “Trends & Issues in Housing in Asia” published by Routledge, UK.

Ar.Rohan Shivkumar Dean, B.Arch

Rohan believes that architecture and the city are the powerful indicators of culture. In them are represented the values system of a society, the aspirations it has for the future, along with its successes and failures. He believes that the academic space is a space to critically examine the role that it plays’ and be able to suggest modes to recalibrating the modes in which it is practiced. He strongly believes that such a critical examination can happen through rigorously reexamining of some of the presumptions that architecture assumes.

His practice of urban design and planning has been mainly through research of contemporary urban India as well as cities of the broader global south. His primary interests are issues of low-income housing in urban India and also understanding the larger impact of social, political and economic contexts on urban form.

An Architect & Urban Planner, a graduate from School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada. She has been part of various sustainable projects in the field of architecture. She is involved in various Projects with Puducherry forest department with special focus on restoration of water bodies of eco sensitive zones.”

Mr. Karthik, an Electrical Engineer has his extensive knowledge to make the toughest problems to be an easy one. His way of teaching motivates students to perform well in their exams and career. Also, he guides students to excel in aptitude exams and competitive exams.

A PEEP INTO ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION OF MAHARASTRA

The Students had a brief session regarding the urban planning and BREVCOM programs in KRVIA by Dean AR. Ainslee, and AR. Shanaya , faculty of KRVIA created a great canvas to understand the heritage resilience of Mumbai and the importance to know about the trajectory of the evolution of the culture and architecture of a city and then we had an urban planning lecture mostly focused on the housing typologies of Mumbai by AR. Aditya Sawant.

The Students had a brief session regarding the urban planning and BREVCOM programs in KRVIA by Dean Ar. ROHAN Some of the main urban projects Rohan worked on include the Churchgate Revival Project and the Tourist District Project; and other projects with the Design Cell of the KRVIA including ‘City in the times of Ambedkar’, Dharavi Project and the Cess Building Project. Rohan is the co-editor of an interdisciplinary research and art collaboration- ‘Project Cinema City’.

An Insight He also is the curator of the monthly film programme at the Bhau Daji Lad Museum. His film work include ’Nostalgia for the future’ which won the Best Documentary of the year at the ISDFFK, ‘Lovely Villa’, and ‘Squeeze Lime in Your Eye’.

Taj Hotel, Sivaji Maharat Sanghalaya and gateway of India were the landmarks that helped the students identify the locations and guided them on their night walks. The Night lights of the Taj Hotel and the gateway of India were a treat for the eyes.

After a long journey across the city of mumbai we reached mahim dargah the whole place was flooded with the people since it is the famous food festival of dharga we experienced variety of food at that one single place we had an awesome juice which is available only in that festival and also had unique foods available only in that place

The students have visited numerous Nagara style temples on their previous travels, but the babulnath temple is one of its kind because of the comparatively smaller scale but, intricate detailing in all the shrines and on the elements of the temple and the ambience of the temple stood out because of the settlement along the stairs of the temple.

TEMPLE The Babulnath Temple is situated in a suburb called Girgaum Chowpatty in Mumbai. It is a hillock temple which has become wellknown over the years.

The students were exposed to the busy shopping streets of Mumbai, they walked amongst the crowds exploring all the handicrafts. They shopped from variety of vendors on the market, some of them showed excellent skills in their craftsmanship. They had an opportunity to compare and contrast the similarities between market regions from Mumbai and Chennai.

After reaching the echo point, they felt as if they’re at the top of the world, screaming with joy, hoping for the echoes to get them.

They came to a conclusion that viewing a building in various perspectives gave them far more details to observe like how the balconies of different buildings are treated with one another, and they could see the entire stretch of the road from that height, so they observed the traffic patterns precisely and they got to experience what they’ve learned from the heritage resilience session at KRIVIA to its core essence because of the ride, and they could see how the bridge connects the seven islands together to form the metropolitan.

The students were there at the festival time, so they got to experience the spiritual connection of people to their religious roots, the street food they had there was something they couldn’t get anywhere else because it was exclusive for that festival.

Fashion street is a market place in Mumbai which is different from colaba causeway because of its narrow spread of shops and is more of a feast to fashion enthusiasts and shopaholics. There was a cricket stadium between CST and fashion market, from which tons of Indian cricket players were emerged.

The students were used to observing buildings and their elements regularly by walking but the marine drive on the double decker bus, gave them a different eye level to experience because from what they observed.

An Insight The students of SEA presented to us how a village can be studied online, and productive and technological designs can be proposed for the betterment of those villages and our students presented them how they did their rurals semester online, studying rural villages and proposing effective designs in those villages and it helped both the students to learn from one another.
