“This performance is lovingly dedicated to Deidre Davis, whose passion, guidance, and belief in me helped shape the dance I am today. Her legacy lives on in every step I take. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit moves through this stage and through all of us who were blessed enough to learn from her.”

- Talita Jackson

Greetings

Welcome to a magical evening of dance, storytelling, and celebration! We are honored to present The Frog Princess, a vibrant reimagining of a beloved fairytale brought to life through the power of movement and imagination.

Set against the soulful backdrop of New Orleans, this production follows the unforgettable journey of Tiana—a young woman with big dreams and an even bigger heart. As she navigates love, friendship, and unexpected transformation, Tiana reminds us that true magic lies not in fairy godmothers or wishing stars, but in perseverance, faith, and the community that lifts us up. Tonight, our dancers channel that spirit—pouring their energy, artistry, and emotion into each step, twirl, and leap.

This show is more than just a performance. It’s a tribute to growth, teamwork, and the courage it takes to pursue a dream. Our dancers have spent countless hours learning, rehearsing, and perfecting what you’re about to see. Alongside them are dedicated instructors, creative collaborators, and supportive families who’ve helped shape every moment of this production.

From the jazz-filled streets to the mystical bayou, from laughter to loss, and from doubt to destiny—you’ll experience it all tonight. So let the music sweep you away and allow your heart to follow the story as it unfolds with joy, resilience, and a little splash of sparkle.

I would like to thank all of my teachers, Gretta Daughtrey, The Dominion Energy Carpenter Theatre staff, William Clark, Laaces Ouut Media, my chaperones, all of our volunteers, The City Dance Program and Theatre Parents, The Most High and my family. I love you guys. Without any of you, none of this would have been possible.

Thank you for being here with us. Your presence means the world to these young performers, and we can’t wait to share this special night with you.

Please enjoy the show as the City Dance Program presents “The Frog Princess”.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Talita Jackson
