We feel strongly that instruction is the key to making the game of golf more enjoyable for players of all skill levels. All golfers (men, women, and juniors) are guilty of practicing bad habits most of the time. We have designed various lesson plans to fit everyone's different schedules.

Through the years, we have worked hard to excel at teaching the game of golf. The staff has taken lessons or studied under some of the following world renowned instructors:

Jim Suttie, Jim McLean, Dr. Craig Farnsworth, Dr. Mo Pickens, Dave Pelz, David Leadbetter, Mitchell Spearman, Rick Martino, Peter Kostis, Jim Flick, Mike Hebron, Hank Haney, Ed Ibarguen, Bill Strausbaugh, Andrew Rice, Todd Anderson, Stan Utley, Andy Plummer and Craig Shankland.

We feel strongly about instruction that is individualized for each student, rather than any certain methodology.

Depending on the lesson plan of choice, video and Trackman are available and encouraged. Video lessons are one hour long.

Women’s 9 & 18 Hole Golf League

Women’s League play is on Tuesdays and the course is closed to all other play until 11:30 am. When the Club is open on Monday holidays, the Club will be closed on the Tuesday following, and Women’s golf will be on Thursday of those weeks, with Tuesday open play restrictions applying.

Monday Golf Outings

The golf course and all practice areas are closed on Mondays, except when a member sponsored/ Board Approved golf outing is taking place.

Pace of Play

Please play without undue delay at all times. All players are asked to keep pace with the group in front of them and / or play their round of golf in four hours or less. A new partner of ours is now Tagmarshal. We will receive data driven information of how golfers are getting around the course. This will allow members and staff to solve on course delays. This software will be in carts or carried by caddies to ensure the most efficient and functional experience.

Continuous Putting

It is recommended that players use continuous putting whether in events or open play. Continuous putting is proven to have a positive influence on pace of play. The definition of continuous putting is to finish the hole once a player has their putter in their hand and their turn has begun.

Handicaps

The Handicap Committee’s responsibility is to make certain that all members comply with the World Handicap System and to monitor all aspects of the World Handicap System, including the computation of the WHS indexes. The Handicap Committee shall verify that all acceptable scores are reported for handicap purposes and that all recorded scores are available for peer review.

The Handicap Committee has the right to determine penalty score for not posting, designate which rounds will be tournament scores, and make adjustments to handicaps for disabilities, or for exceptional tournament play. The Handicap Committee also reserves the right to decide on any other matters relative to the World Handicap System.

All handicap matters will be dealt with using the 2023 World Handicap

Ruth Lake Country Club was the brainchild of nine golf-loving businessmen from Hinsdale. Their intention was simple; “We went into this to save the property primarily for ourselves, so that we may enjoy golf, and other summer and winter sports here, in perpetuity at a small expense.”

It is with that we honor these nine great men who first leased the 160 acres, known as the Dixon Farm that surrounded Ruth Lake. The name of our Men’s League is named after them as a group, and our ten teams will be their individual names.

We hope you enjoy the League.
