ASSESSMENT MEASURES UTILIZED IN THIS REPORT

Career Exploration and Success views the usage of data to drive effectiveness as an integral protocol acknowledged in the department’s “Smart Operating Practices” core value. The department utilizes a variety of methods to report on outcomes illustrated in this report.

Campus Advisory Groups

CES employs the assistance of various student, campus partner, and employer advisory groups to explore multiple topics. These groups have provided feedback on marketing efforts, new website proposals, recruiting services, advising resources, mentoring programs, and more. This year our career interest and career community advisory boards held 115 meeting sessions with 150 advisory group participants to discuss new initiatives to further assist with the career success of our students and alumni.

Rutgers—New Brunswick Post-Graduation Survey

The post-graduation survey collects information about recent graduates’ post-graduation status, employment, graduate school admissions information, and their campus experiences. A committee comprised of 25 members from each academic school collaborated to ensure that the data collected is useful to all academic partners. Information is collected at the time of graduation for each of the October, January, and May cohorts and then again six months later. This year a total of 7,948 graduates participated in the survey, accounting for approximately 70% of the total 11,545 graduates.

Satisfaction Surveys

Satisfaction surveys are distributed after students and alumni engage in CES activities. The workshop and advising appointment surveys utilize a reflective pre-test followed by a post-test approach to assess outcomes. Satisfaction feedback from our career fairs, interviewing program, and special events also provides valuable insight and is integrated into staff performance reviews. Data is also imported into an outcomes dashboard and is used by CES management for team assessment and future department planning.

Service Utilization Reports

Monthly recruiting, programming, and online tools tracking data is collected throughout the year and helps CES to assess usage, plan future marketing efforts, determine upcoming selected programs and services, and manage staff deployment for events and services.

Utilization, Preferences, Impact, and Perceptions Annual Student Survey

The annual random sample student survey helps CES to obtain information on service utilization and preferences, marketing impact and awareness, and department perceptions. CES collects this data utilizing a two-stage randomized stratified sampling method to allow generalization of results to the entire population within a certain margin of error. In Spring 2022 a Qualtrics survey was sent out to a stratified random sample of 10,000 undergraduate students. Data was collected during March 2022. A total of 600 responses was received. The survey had a 4.0% margin of error at the 95% confidence interval level.
