In this Issue! Editorial Voodoo Hoodoo “The Reboot” The King of Rust Rides 4 Rugratz Events
A shiny paint job, a trailer queen, a high dollar six figure or more build if this is what you are looking for you won’t find it here! Rustn-Speed has evolved to become a publication celebrating the ratrod and Kustom car community as well as the true heroes of the hobby. These heroes are making rides that are original pieces of rolling art that reflect their individual personalities. Go to any car show, cruise in or other car gathering, and you will notice the different personalities of different groups. One group featured in the first issue of Rust-n-Speed was the Voodoo Kings Car Club of Tennessee. We are proud that this year’s Voodoo Hoodoo was not canceled due to Covid and the event was also called the Reboot. When life forces us to take a detour, we all need to reboot and remain driven! One man that knows about the detours of life and remaining driven is Tommy lee Ring. Tommy is one of the most genuine and interesting people in the car scene and has a true talent for music, writing, and building cars. Our three-page article just barely scratches the surface of a true hero of the car community. Another genuine and interesting person we have been glad to meet is Roger Dale Smith. Roger works hard to put on a annual show that celebrates the true heroes of today and the future of the car scene. Rides 4 Rugratz is an annual event that helps ensure that more children have a great Christmas. Feels great to be back and working hard to cover the best events, cool rides, and unique personalities. We have also started another quarterly publication, Evolution Hotrod Society that will display modern hotrods and cool trucks! When not attending cool auto events, writing, or taking photos we will be enjoying the open road by taking a detour. Editorial by: Barry Howell

Realty and our futures are shaped by taking the chance to follow our passions and live our dreams. Without dreams, vision and drive our possible pathways are limited. This is the story of one man following his passion and a detour that placed him on a pathway to become the King of Rust! Long before Tommy Lee Ring would become the King of Rust he would develop his mechanical skills by working on cars with his father. Tommy’s father would work on cars in the backyard to supplement his income from being a pastor. Along with mechanical skills, Tommy developed a talent and passion for music early in life and following his passion and dreams led Tommy to California and the Palomino Club. Days in the California sun and nights playing music at the premier nightclub in North Hollywood, talk about living the dream!
When living the dream of being a musician, a time comes when you will need to travel to pursue better opportunities. When a better opportunity arose back east Tommy quickly loaded his belongings into his Corvette and hit the road. Tommy planned to make a quick trip home to Arkansas to visit his father however, the trip took a detour thanks to his Corvette, a Chevy truck, a stranger, and a bird.
When life happens and forces our pathways to take an unexpected detour, we must remain driven in order to achieve our dreams. Once a vision to be a bright and shining star in the music industry took a Detour in Arkansas that led Tommy Lee Ring down the pathway to becoming the King of Rust!
Tommy has recently released a new album Highway 99. To order the album and learn more about Tommy visit his new website: HOME | My Site (tommyring.net)
