TABLE OF CONTENTS EDITORIAL-THE RIDE CHATTANOOGA WORLD OF WHEELS C10 NATIONALS NASHVILLE CAR EVENT FLYERS
Welcome to the first edition of Evolution Hot Rod Society. We are living in exciting times and will see great changes over the next several years. In fact, the past decade has seen many changes to hot rods. Many hotrodders have made the transformation to fuel injection by installing fuel injected LS, Hemis, and Coyote motors into their current hotrods. The installation of aftermarket fuel injection has also gained great popularity in the past decade. The past decade has seen the rise of modern muscle 400 HP and above cars that have all the luxuries including air conditioning, traction control, heated seats, and sports mode and can accelerate 0 to 60 in under 3-4 seconds. We are entering the days of instant acceleration and now with high gas prices electric cars are being seen more and more on our roadways and highways. One of the true questions and concerns for many hotrodders is how to make an electric car cool. The roaring sound of dual exhaust during acceleration is not found on todays electric vehicles. Although they have interior exhaust sounds to help you feel cool, the sound lacks the cool factor of having others hear you as you accelerate or make your entrance into a car show, cruise in or local drive in. You will also not look cool standing beside a rapid charge station waiting 30 minutes for your new electric car to recharge. The smell of gasoline will be a memory for a hotrodder converting to electric car for his daily driver and then using an E crate motor to convert the hotrod to electric. However, the idea of making electric cars into hot rods seems impossible in the present. The memories and stories of the first hotrodders removing weight and adding horsepower in the pursuit of speed seems impossible to adapt to an electric car. After all, how do you remove weight on an electric car besides placing all passengers and the driver on a strict diet? Our ability to trace every moment of hotrod history on the internet has truly fueled our appetite for power and allowed us to view the evolution of hot-rodding. We can study the pioneers of change that helped create the hotrod movement several decades ago and those that helped lead change and create the evolution of hot-rodding and customization. Without change we do not move forward, and we must view the changes ahead to keep us fueled about the gas burning, alternate fuel, and electrifying future of Hotrods! The future opens the door to choices not limitations.
