No Apologies! You know what makes me sick? You know what makes me so angry that I could use my weed eater to trim my nose hairs? As I attend some events it appears that some people are too lazy to park in the spectator lot and have decided to bring their daily drivers into the show and park with car show participants. These vehicles are easy to spot, and you have probably seen the types of vehicles being described in this editorial. These are not vehicles that are being restored in a driveway or home garage and used as daily transportation until the project is finished. These are vehicles that should be given directions to spectator parking. Case in point Street rod Nationals last year if you looked at what was riding around it was easy to spot something that did not belong. A Chevy Astro van was seen cruising around and the only modifications we could locate was a CB Antenna and a honk for Bubba bumper sticker. A rusted-out brown Buick Regal missing 3 hub caps and smoking out the tail pipe like a freight train was also in attendance. These are a few examples of a cars that did not belong inside the event! I remember a time when street rods, were the only cars allowed on the grounds at NSRA events and Goodguys was 1972 and below. However, times have changed, and I can see the point about expanding the years of cars that are allowed into shows so that more people can participate. I feel like the NSRA and Goodguys need to develop new classifications if the practice is going to be let all those that have money or a credit card in their pocket enter the event. Here are some suggestions: Best Still Under Warranty Best New Car Smell Best Car with Extended Warranty Coverage Top Original Production/Survivor 2020 /2021/2022 Newest Temporary Tag Best Uber Transport Vehicle Best Pizza Delivery Vehicle Best Hybrid Ugliest Daily Driver Worst Daily Driver Interior Smell (smell needs to have occurred in a natural daily environment farts, fast food, and sweat, etc.) I do not make any apologies for my above statements. To all of us who are working hard to customize, build, or preserve rare and unique rides regardless of make, model or age lets pave the way to the future of car shows and auto events. We need to have a strategy to evolve with the times or our hobby will become extinct. Support SEMA, Product Manufacturers, and all of those doing custom work in their own shops and personal garages. We attend car shows to enjoy the time and learn what is possible. Be a lifetime learner and help shape the future and keep the good times rolling! Thanks For Reading! Fozzie
