The first rule of each printed publication is to know your target audience. For example, ELLE targets women, GQ serves men, while COSMOPOLITAN aims at rebellious teenagers. You can’t go wrong with fashion and beauty for the ladies, success tips for men, or new treads and travel destinations for teens. It wasn’t that simple for us. Russian Time serves the entire Slavic community in the US. We had to come up with our own strategy. And so we did. Our goal is to provide you with a unique publication which has something interesting for everyone. We want this to be the magazine which you keep on your coffee table and share with your family and friends. We want you to find value on the pages of this publication, whether you’re a businessman, a stay at home mom, or an aspiring teenager. Stress, shock, and panic are the words that come to mind when people talk about the COVID-19. Most of us are constantly watching the news, holding our breaths as the new virus developments keep unfolding. COVID-19 is a real challenge for humanity. Social distancing, banned travels, no vacations, and limited hugs are nothing compared to a negative mindset, fear, and frustration that overtake hundreds of thousands of people locked down in their homes. But is the situation as bad as it seems? Can this pandemic have a silver lining?

Check these top five new opportunities that arose as a result of the pandemic and see if these discoveries could improve your life during the lockdown. In response to the global shutdown of learning institutions, a number of highly rated universities now offer free access to remote education. Now you can take free courses from such universities as Princeton, Harvard, and Yale! World-known cooks, athletes, nutritionists, and other professionals now offer their training videos, courses and master classes free of charge! Just poke around the Internet and learn new skills from the best in their field! New remote positions are available for those, who lost their jobs due to COVID-19. It could be a fresh start for people interested in developing new skills or starting a new career. People who love art and are fond of museums now have a unique chance to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of iconic exhibitions and world-class galleries. Just imagine, you can enjoy your tea in the comfy bed while doing a virtual tour in the Louvre, without flying to Paris. Quarantine is the perfect time to build strong relations with the family and compensate for the lost opportunities. Enjoy a romantic dinner with your wife, play with your son, or tell a story to your daughter. COVID-19 made us realize what we’ve been missing. When people had the freedom, many were obsessed with social media. But now, being locked away from the world, the true values of real life became so obvious! We will never prioritize chatting on social media over a live talk to a friend. The Pandemic made us realize who the true heroes are. It is not Superman. It is business owners, journalists, doctors, nurses, and countless silent heroes who risked their lives on daily basis to save others. These are the people worth of our attention, appreciation, and support. Our attitude determines the direction of our lives. We can suffer from anger, fear, and anxiety caused by the lockdown or use this opportunity for personal growth, improving our relationships, and resetting our values. Stay positive, my friends!

2020 STARTED OUT MORE LIKE A HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTER THAN REAL LIFE. IN A FEW MONTHS, SO MANY EVENTS, CHANGES, AND INNOVATIONS HAD TAKEN PLACE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD SO THESE QUESTIONS AROSE: “WHAT WILL THE WORLD LOOK LIKE AFTER THE PANDEMIC AND WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR ALL OF US?” THERE ARE MANY PESSIMISTIC SCENARIOS, BUT THIS ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT RESONATE WITH OUR EDITORIAL IDEOLOGY. We, in our editorial department, are convinced that it is extremely important to keep our focus on positive things. This is why we have dedicated our main article to people who actively worked and served their community during the quarantine. Each of them, in their own sphere, tried to help and support those who were most affected by the crisis. Discover how the individuals depicted on our magazine cover went through the quarantine and how they view the world after 2020.

How has your work, business, or lifestyle changed due to the Coronavirus? At work, I became a cheerleader. When we had to cancel more than 50 events (non-profit events, catering, Sushiology classes, speaking engagements, and more) because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I started using my time to encourage our teammates in every way possible. I used personal meetings, emails, and even social media to keep moral up. On the business side, our corporate team and our managers have been working very hard to learn all the regulations and guidelines and find ways to survive in this challenging time. Thankfully, I was overwhelmed by our amazing teammates’ dedication and our customers’ support for our limited business using curbside pick-up. I enjoyed my new lifestyle during COVID-19. I was able to do things that I could not do before. I prayed more, cleaned, organized, remodeled the house, worked on our backyard, walked with our dog every morning and so much more! I truly enjoyed the break from my addiction of being so busy.

Owner of Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar

What was the main lesson or insight that you have learned during the quarantine? Faith over fear! This pandemic brought me so many positive outcomes. We just have to keep kaizening (continuously improving) ourselves in every way as we adjust to the new normal. What was the main challenge for you during this uncertain time? We lost around 500 teammates and 50% of our sales because of COVID-19. The hardest thing for me was not knowing our future so we couldn’t make any plans. The whole world had no idea what to do or what to expect. What are you most grateful for? I want to say I am grateful for everyone around me, but God is the one who created them! Because of God, I never felt depressed or had any anxiety. I have so much joy, hope and peace in my heart that I feel like we are not just in survival mode but “thrivalmode”! We are all essential to God! Do you think the world will be the same after everything that has happened? The world might not be the same and it shouldn’t be! I feel like this was a good reset for every one of us to learn to focus on the most important things. I also pray for #MikUnited (Mikuni means The Kingdom of God). We are one human race under Mikuni! This is the time to be united as one and reach the common goal as we increase God’s love to the world! RUSSIAN TIME MAGAZINE

How has your work, business, or lifestyle changed due to the Coronavirus? The biggest impact that the Coronavirus has had on me, personally and professionCapital Foothills Region ally, has been the inability to be out helping in the community. As you know, giving back to our community through volunteerism is at the core of what Wells Fargo stands for. It’s also at the core of who I am. For the past 2 ½ months, I, as well as my colleagues and so many other Sacramentans, haven’t been able to volunteer or support our community through people power — building homes with Habitat for Humanity, or helping with food drives and distributions, or mentoring children. While the virus affected many businesses and “normal” operations, it hasn’t stopped homelessness, domestic violence, or food insecurities; it’s likely made them worse. Nonprofits servicing our area have seen an influx of need, but a lack of people power to help carry out those supportive efforts. That being said, I would like to add that while Wells Fargo representatives haven’t been physically out in the community, we have continued to financially support organizations helping people impacted by COVID. For example, in April, the Wells Fargo Foundation donated $200,000 to six local nonprofits providing COVID relief efforts including emergency food supplies. Those contributions are part of a $175 million donation from the Wells Fargo Foundation to support economic recovery for communities, small businesses, and vulnerable populations affected by COVID-19. From a business perspective, with important safety measures in place — including required appointments to meet with personal bankers and enhanced cleaning — Wells Fargo branches continue to support our customers while implementing social distancing guidelines. Whether in a branch, over the phone, or online, our employees are committed to helping our customers succeed financially. 20

What was the main lesson or insight you have learned during the quarantine? Rightly, many of our customers have been apprehensive about leaving their homes amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The quarantine has forced many parents to juggle their workload and household responsibilities, while taking on a new role as their children’s schoolteacher. One thing I’ve learned is that now, more than ever, people are in need of options that are convenient. Fortunately, the digital banking options available on WellsFargo.com or our Wells Fargo app make online banking easy, safe, and convenient. Customers can handle most of their banking needs using these platforms. They can check their balances, pay bills, transfer money, deposit checks using their smart phones, and send and receive money using Zelle®. What was the main challenge for you during this uncertain time? The pandemic has been a challenge for everyone. During this time, we’ve all learned how to work together. We are still navigating day to day challenges, but we’re committed to doing what is right for our customers, employees and communities. What are you most grateful for? That, as an essential business, we’ve continued to be able to help our customers and communities. Safety is our top priority. We have taken, and will continue to take, actions to support our employees, customers, and communities during this extremely difficult time. Do you think the world can be the same after this pandemic? I think we’re looking at a new way of life. We are reevaluating the timing of our “return to normal” activities as the COVID-19 situation evolves. I know we will continue to keep an open line of communication.

How has your work, business, or lifestyle changed due to the Coronavirus? My business depends on the relationships that I build with my clients and business partners. It has been challenging to build new relationships with limited one on one and face to face interaction, but, in times such as these, we let our creative selves out. We create ways, we find alternatives and it has been extremely interesting to see how talented people react when pushed to their limits. I found new ways to grow my business that I never thought would be possible. Because of the virus, we will continue thinking outside of the box. I think we will still limit our personal contacts until we have more answers.

Evergreen Home Loans

What was the main lesson or insight that you have learned during the quarantine? Educate yourself before preaching to others. There was so much fake news circulating about my industry. I realized that I had to be educated before I could properly educate and answer questions for others. What was the main challenge for you during this uncertain time? My main challenge was keeping up with the market. In the month of March, the market changed rapidly, and we had to be on top of these changes so we could educate and guide our borrowers. Interest rates went from mid threes to fours overnight. News went out that the Feds lowered the rate below zero, but the banks were still over four. Our phones were ringing nonstop. We had qualified borrowers who had just lost their jobs and were devastated as well as clients who purchased homes and were now jobless and didn’t know how they were going to make their next payment. Our office became almost like a call center. We were all on our phones helping clients with their concerns, referring them to appropriate channels as well as helping clients move forward with new purchases. What are you most grateful for? I realized how important it is to work for a company that has your back and that we were able to continue with our work without losses. We were able to be there for our clients because we had answers and we were educated and ready to help. Do you think the world can be the same after everything that has happened? What is normal? I think I will be able to go back meeting with my clients and partners in person, but I believe that our society will be cautious moving forward. We have a scar now that will remind us of these past few months. We will expect the unexpected…

How has your work, business, or lifestyle changed due to the Coronavirus? The Coronavirus pandemic has deeply impacted the lives of many people, but, despite the quarantine, everything has proceeded quite smoothly for my family and me. Who would have thought that working from home with kids would be a difficult task? Anyway, my husband and I successfully coped with the challenge. At our company, we switched to online work during the lockdown. We have even created a new ZOOM interview project, which has received a lot of positive feedback. We contacted experts from different areas online, asking them three most relevant questions. Both participants and viewers enjoyed this new format. I believe that you can always find benefits in any situation, even the lockdown. Modifications or transformations may be required but benefits are sure to be found.

What was the main lesson or insight that you have learned during the quarantine? The biggest lesson I’ve learned this year is to keep focusing on the positive, on my family, and accept that there are things beyond my control. I’d like to quote Mother Teresa, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” This phrase has now become my guiding life principle. What was the main challenge for you during this uncertain time? For me, traveling is like a breath of fresh air. So, the hardest thing to cope with during the lockdown was to limit trips and meetings with friends as much as possible. I feel on top of the world when I go to the ocean with my family. There’s nothing like sipping a cup of aromatic coffee while enjoying an ocean view, followed by a walk with my beloved husband and children as we admire the beauty of nature, the salty air and the sound of waves crashing against the cliffs. What are you most grateful for? I’m thankful to God for everything that happens to me. Moreover, I’m grateful for everything that happens in the world. I see many things requiring transformation, and the pandemic is an opportunity to look deeper into the health care system, our life and health. This is a chance to realize that no one else is responsible for your health and your body, except for you. So, if you want to live a healthy and positive life, you need to work on improving yourself. Do you think the world will be the same after everything that has happened? People have different perspectives and see the world in different ways. Some people find this world gloomy and cruel; others find it kind and fair, or beautiful and magical. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For some, this crisis turned out to be a failure and a disaster, for others, it presented new opportunities. What will the world look like in the future? It depends on who we are and how we raise our children. I believe the world would be a better place if we would be a happier and better version of ourselves RUSSIAN TIME MAGAZINE

MANDATORY READING LIST

for a Bookworm

Lolita

by Vladimir Nabokov

The Bible The Bible is the world’s bestselling book of all times. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it has sold more than five trillion copies and has been translated into most existing languages. This ancient book remains current even now, being the most influential, cited, paraphrased, and read all over the globe. In fact, it is not a single book, but a combination of 66 smaller ones, each of them containing important messages and useful lessons. From Genesis to Revelation, it is filled with the spirit of truth, kindness, wisdom, and love.

This astonishingly enduring and skillful work of Nabokov was initially banned from entering the UK. From the first pages, we meet Humbert, a professor and self-confessed murderer, who turns out to be the narrator of the novel. The story begins when he marries a widow, Charlotte Haze, in hopes of being closer to her 12-year-old daughter, Dolores. Charlotte calls her daughter Lo, while Humbert lovingly nicknames her Lolita. “Lolita, the light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul.” These words conclude the story and they capture both the love and pain woven throughout the novel.

1984

by George Orwell This prescient piece of dystopian fiction has become a cliché over the years. Orwell’s insights into the lies, fear, and constant control of a totalitarian regime are realized in this thriller. The protagonist, Winston, strives to fight the contemporary ideology, resisting a gray world where someone is always watching you. Bravery is viewed as a deviation, but Winston Smith’s courage continues to strengthen, even in a world where free will, love, and individuality are forbidden.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Few, if any, lists of great books do not include Pride and Prejudice. Balls and bonnets are only small details of one of the world’s most famous novels featuring the courtship of two contradictory characters. Dive into the lives of people in Georgian England and feel the spirit of the time and fully understand the joy and pain of the main characters. 26

Eugene Onegin

by Alexander Pushkin One of the famous masterpieces of Russian fiction leads its readers into the 19th-century in Russia, with its joys, problems, and challenges. Playful and serious, passionate, and ironic, the story has numerous sides. Pushkin strives to cover multiple topics and depict as many character types as possible. Excellent literary techniques help you delve into the writing and feel the spirit of life.

Disgrace

by J. M. Coetzee Disgrace is a unique work of J. M. Coetzee, which can be compared to a very sharp, finely crafted knife resting against your neck. The story is filled with suspense and uneasiness from the very beginning. The author keeps the reader’s attention, without allowing even a breath to be taken, right up to the moment the story concludes. The novel takes place in South Africa, bringing to light the prejudices of sexuality, class, race, and gender. Political correctness is not even mentioned here, only life, only reality. Readers can find a semblance of his/her own life in the way characters cope with problems and learn to survive as humans. Redemption is found only in the reshaping of one’s soul and reassessment of life itself.

Jane Eyre

by Charlotte Bronte There is no way for a sensitive and affectionate person not to be moved by the steeliest heroine of the book. “Small and plain”, Jane Eyre faces the cruelty of her boarding school once she becomes its governess. She demands the right to feel, think, and act the way she desires. An exciting story of a mad woman, her life, and fight with disfigurement are intriguing to read and consider.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

When F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third novel was introduced, it was greeted with savage reviews, and labeled with the tag “for the season only”. However, it seems that someone was mistaken as it turned out to be one of Fitzgerald’s greatest works. There is something truly remarkable about this novel, as it clarifies and sheds light on the ambition, cynicism, hope, and desire related to the American Dream.

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Intrigue, passion, compassion, love, and understanding are feelings that arise in the hearts of readers throughout this masterpiece. Opposing feelings overwhelm readers as they observe the erotic charge between bachelor Vronsky and married Anna. The scorn of society cannot deter their relationship nor persuade readers to turn on this couple.

by Haruki Murakami The lyrical, haunting, and funny style of Haruki Murakami has attracted readers, making him one of the top Japanese authors both in the Western world and beyond its borders. The WindUp Bird Chronicle is written with the same impressive and mysterious writing style and filled with dreamlike surrealism, typical for the author. The task of the reader is to unravel this multi-layered, intricate tale. The novel tackles important topics including romantic disappointment, the nature of consciousness, as well as lingering wounds from World War II. RUSSIAN TIME MAGAZINE

“If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough!” Muhammad Ali

GLOBAL TRENDS ARE CHANGING AT LIGHTNING SPEED. BACK IN THE OLD DAYS, THINGS WERE DIFFERENT. JUST A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, WE WERE ALL THRILLED TO FOLLOW THE BOXING WORLD, KNOWING BY HEART SUCH ATHLETES AS ROY JONES JR., KOSTYA TSZYU, VASILIY LOMACHENKO, FLOYD MAYWEATHER AND OTHERS. NOWADAYS, SPORTS FANS HAVE NEW HEROES WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN THE UFC LEAGUE. MMA (MIXED MARTIAL ARTS) HAS SEEN INCREASED POPULARITY OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS. YOUNG GUYS STRIVE TO DUPLICATE SUCCESS OF CONOR MCGREGOR, KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV, AND JUSTIN GAETHJE. 30

Slava Borshchev, an ambitious, but still modest Russian guy from Volgograd, is a hero of this interview. He moved to California following his wildest dreams: to crack the top-10 list of best UFC fighters in the world today. By the age of 28, Slava had already won the world championship title in kickboxing (K-1), had become a world-class athlete, and had repeatedly captured gold in both Russian and international competitions. Despite all these achievements, Slava was still not ready to rest, so brighteyed and bushy-tailed athlete shared with us his reasons to move to the United States if it was all worth it and key insights he had gained in two years of living here.

SLAVA, WAS THERE A CERTAIN MOMENT OR EVENT THAT MADE YOU REALIZE YOU WANTED TO DEVOTE YOUR WHOLE LIFE TO BOXING? Yes, indeed. I first watched the movie «Ali» with Will Smith about Muhammad Ali when I was 9, and this masterpiece left a lasting impression. Just after watching this movie, I asked my dad to enroll me in boxing classes. And for over 20 years now, I haven’t been out of the ring. DO YOU REMEMBER THE MOMENT YOU BECAME A WORLD CHAMPION IN KICKBOXING? DID THIS VICTORY DRIVE YOU OVER THE EDGE OR WAS IT WHAT YOU EXPECTED? Any victory is paid for in hard work, your dedication and determination. I remember spending hours training in the gym, reaching this title, dreaming of winning the world championship. It took me so long to get to this final stage, that I didn’t feel any euphoric haze about what had happened. But I remember very well the day before the fight. I was in a taxi with my coach. He’s a particularly close-mouthed person, so he has never given me any motivational speeches. But right then, in the car, he stared at me with those piercing eyes and said: «Slava, do you really get what title is at stake right now? Do you realize how important this fight is for your career? Give it all you’ve got!» These few phrases gave me, even more, winning drive and ambition. At that moment, I was mentally determined to defeat any adversary.

I’ll give you three guesses (laughs — editor’s note). I dreamed about looking at the ocean waves, so the first thing I did was to go to the ocean. That pure power, beauty and energy are simply incredible! YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. SLAVA, WHAT WAS YOUR MAIN GOAL UPON ARRIVING IN SACRAMENTO? Back then I arrived for four months only, and I had no intention of staying here. But I really wanted to meet Urijah Faber, the founder of Urijah Faber Ultimate Fitness, and to have my first fight in the U.S. I attended all the training sessions daily, and one day I finally got a chance to meet Urijah. He put me through a sparring, and he really liked me. Since then, I’ve kept training under the close supervision of Urijah. IS IT ENOUGH TO BE JUST A GOOD BOXER TO BECOME A TOP UFC FIGHTER? OR MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE A WHOLE RANGE OF FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THIS?

Any victory is paid for in hard work, your dedication and determination

SO HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA TO MOVE IN THE U. S. AND CHOOSE SACRAMENTO FROM ALL THE CITIES? My close friend is a big fan of Team Alfa Male. He insisted on telling me that I should join this team since many tough UFC fighters have stepped out of it. I decided to text a friend of mine I hadn’t seen in 10 years, knowing that he had immigrated to the United States a long time ago. In the past, we trained in the same gym in Volgograd. It turned out he moved from New York City to Walnut Creek. So out of all the options, it was fate that led me to Sacramento. WHAT WAS THE FIRST THING YOU DID UPON YOUR ARRIVAL IN CALIFORNIA?

Surely, it’s not enough to be just a good fighter. The crucial thing is to have a skilled and competent manager. Without him, you won’t arrange a single fight. Besides, your skill in jiu-jitsu or freestyle wrestling also matters a lot.

You have nothing to do with the professional UFC unless you are skillful in fighting. Moreover, it’s your mindset that counts. The fight happens in your head first, and then inside the octagon. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT’S CONOR MCGREGOR’S SECRET? HE HAS 36 MILLION FOLLOWERS ON INSTAGRAM, HE MADE $50 MILLION FOR HIS FIGHT AGAINST HABIB (HABIB GOT ONLY $2 MILLION), EVEN THOUGH HE LOST THE FIGHT. AT THE SAME TIME, CONOR IS EXTREMELY POPULAR, AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE STARTED WATCHING UFC BECAUSE OF HIM. Conor is a unique combination of outrage, charm and excellent fighting skills. Just because he was defeated by Habib doesn’t mean he’s a bad fighter. When you reach the top, you find yourself among the fighters of such high caliber that anyone can lose. In fact, you should realize that the fight is just a tip of an iceberg. What’s important is to make a proper promotion campaign, find major sponsors, and do a really cool show. Like 2,000 years ago,

roads in California seem like heaven, even though I’ve heard they’re not the best in the U. S.

THERE IS A NOTION THAT IN BOXING, AS WELL AS IN FOOTBALL, THERE IS SUCH A THING AS RIGGED MATCHES. DID YOU FACE SUCH SITUATIONS, AND WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?

THIS IS A CHALLENGING TIME, NOT ONLY FOR THE UNITED STATES BUT ALSO FOR THE WHOLE WORLD. HOW HAS THE 2020 AND THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC AFFECTED YOU?

To be honest, I don’t understand and don’t accept such kind of deals, that I want to believe there are no such fights. However, in the history of boxing, there were certain moments when many factors pointed out the existence of a prior agreement between the parties on the fight outcome. But I’m not 100% sure that this is actually happening.

You know, this year is really unpredictable. As I said before, my goal here was to have at least 5 fights, so that I could be noticed and continue on my way in the UFC league. After over a dozen rejections in the meantime, I finally got an agreement for a fight. But the coronavirus has disrupted all plans, so the fight has been postponed for an indefinite period. This situation really put me off my stride. I hope that everything will come back to normal and I’ll successfully proceed towards my goal.

AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS OF LIVING IN CALIFORNIA, CAN YOU TELL US WHAT DO YOU LIKE HERE AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE?

LET’S IMAGINE FOR JUST ONE SECOND THAT YOU WON’T SUCCEED, WILL YOU LOSE YOUR LIFE PURPOSE?

I really like the infrastructure here. Things are well arranged and located within the city limits. Obviously, I really enjoy the nature here and a huge selection of places to go with the whole family. Besides, I’d like to say a couple of words about the roads. Since I’m originally from Volgograd, the

I’ve been travelled a lot of beautiful Gualala places in California but the Sea Ranch would always be my number one destination in the list. This is a must visit place if you want to recharge your soul’s batteries, unplug from the whole world, and reconnect with nature.

Sea Ranch

The enchanting area between the counties of Sonoma and Mendocino is also called “The Mind on Mendonoma”, which once again emphasizes how calming this place is for the human mind. Here is the Sea Ranch, where the waves of the Pacific Ocean bring peace and serenity to travelers.

Timber Cove

No matter what you decide to do in this place, just take a deep breath of fresh salty air and let the Sea Ranch relax enter your mind.

WHERE TO STAY IN THE SEA RANCH

Bodega Bay

This is the place for vacation rentals rather than hotel chains. Many homes are available for rent via Airbnb or through the agency Grand Welcome. The majority of the homes offer panoramic ocean views, hot tubs, and access to local amenities, including the community pool.

SEA RANCH THROUGH THE DECADES Steeped in rich California history, Sea Ranch was created by architect and land planner Al Boeke. He put together a team of planners and landscape architects, among which was Lawrence Halprin, one of the most influential landscape architects of the time. The main goal was to develop a new neighborhood on rugged terrain. Al Boeke and a group of Bay Area architects aimed to create an urban area in which architectural design was combined with the great sense of community spirit, and that area would be affordable for people. Indeed, Al Boeke was looking for a place on the

California coast to develop a new town, but firstly The Sea Ranch became a second home for the creative intellectuals. Years later, the community has evolved from a young creative class into a mature society of erudite and affluent people, tired of the hustle and bustle of big cities, whose souls strived for a peaceful lifestyle based on being in the midst of nature. The Sea Ranch boasts many notable citizens such as the Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman, well-known psychologist Philip Zimbardo, PhD, professor at Stanford University, and CBS News reporter Barry Petersen.

SALT POINT STATE PARK

GUALALA POINT REGIONAL PARK

Do you want a lot of likes on Instagram or Facebook? Then this place is a must see! Salt Point State Park is where land and ocean merge in the enchanting union of nature. This 6,000-acre park is full of wildlife, rock pools, kelp-dotted coves, and breathtaking views. This place is worth visiting to see one of the first underwater areas in California, Gerstle Cove Underwater Reserve. The coastal park is located along Highway 1. Here, you really want to capture every step of the way. All you have to do is choose which path to explore, and it will lead you to sculpted wind-carved features or honeycomb-like network of pockets known as tafoni.

One of the must-see spots during your trip to The Sea Ranch, is Gualala. A few miles up the coast in Mendocino County, you’ll find Gualala, home to artists, art exhibitions and events. Brew a cup of strong and flavorful coffee, take a chocolate muffin, and go on a fascinating journey with your favorite characters in books. Also, you can borrow different books from the Sea Ranch Library which is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

HOW TO PREPARE

YOUR BUSINESS FOR A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD? by Alex Konanykhin

2020 HAS BEEN A HECTIC YEAR FOR RETAIL AND BUSINESS BANKRUPTCIES. THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC HAS BECOME A KEY FACTOR IN TANKING ECONOMIES AROUND THE WORLD. A LOT OF WELL-KNOWN BRANDS HAVE DECLARED BANKRUPTCY, THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HAS REACHED ITS MAXIMUM SINCE GREAT DEPRESSION, AND FINALLY THE MAJOR ISSUE HAS ARISEN:

“WHAT SHOULD BUSINESSES DO DURING THESE CHALLENGING TIMES?”

NEW RULES. NEW CLIENTS. NEW WAYS

New times require new ways of doing business and advertise it to your clients. There were times we thought a newspaper ad could do all the work to sell our products, but like every other aspect of our lives, technology has changed it forever. Let’s dive into some interesting economic trends to implement in most businesses as soon as possible. Here are my key points.

MAIN TREND 2020: WORK FROM HOME Almost all office workers were suddenly forced to start working from home. Many of them will not return to their old way of life. When they realize that they can work productively from home, according to their schedule, without losing two or three hours a day on the way to the office and back, they will search for similar remote employment opportunities. Effective management of remote employees is becoming a key factor of competitiveness.

MAIN INSIGHT With more office employees working remotely, more and more corporate executives realize that now they can find the best candidates on a global rather than a local market. Corporations in Silicon Valley or in New York City don’t see the point in paying more local employees if they switch to remote mode anyway; a lot of jobs will move to countries with a lower cost of living. The result will be huge savings for corporations on labor and office costs, increased business growth rates, and improved efficiency of the global economy.

The average American spends about 7-8 hours daily on the Internet using a smartphone, laptop or tablet. During the coronavirus pandemic the numbers are even higher. It’s clear that small and medium-sized businesses need to take advantage of this increase in screen time and place their adds where most people can see it. That’s why the best way to attract new audience is to plan a successful marketing campaign, using social media and SMM targeting tools.

ON A SHORT NOTE 2020 has been a challenging year for many companies, but not for Transparent Business. This crisis gave us the possibility to grow and expend our services worldwide. I saw the opportunity to turn our company into a hectocorn corporation valued over 100 billion dollars. Hundreds of investors from fifty countries, including the largest investment banks, have already invested in our company since we provide best solutions for managing remote employees. Furthermore, I believe digital marketing is the most effective and innovative way to promote your goods or services. If small and medium-sized businesses continue to rely only on traditional offline marketing methods, they risk falling behind the competition. I would personally recommend VolcheckDigital marketing agency founded by Sergey Ivannikov. It was created on the basis of a large media agency with more than 23 years of experience, where result-focused experts in marketing industries easily found and continue to find the best approaches to any target audience in any sphere of business. As an entrepreneur with a thirty years of business experience, I know that there are always ups & downs. That’s why you should always keep in mind the major key to success: persistence! The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need tomorrow!

RAISING A CHILD IS ONE OF THE MOST CHALLENGING TASKS IN LIFE. THE PARENTING PATH IS FULL OF CROSSROADS THAT MAY HAVE PARENTS FEELING THEY MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN THE SUCCESS OR THE HAPPINESS OF THEIR CHILD.

by Victoria Tereshiuk

STOP ISE RA O T G N T RY I UL F S S E SUCC EN… R CHILD G NG

Our society is very competitive. Anyone who has children may occasionally compare their children to others or somehow encourage their child to be better than another. All parents desire the best for their children, and many would like their children to be perfect. They do whatever it takes to involve their kids in multiple after-school activities and to make them successful without consideration for their happiness. What is worse, is that parents truly believe they are doing it for the good of their children.

SUCCESS VERSUS HAPPINESS — WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT?

THINGS

When I was five years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.

EVERY PARENT SHOULD KNOW TO RAISE A

It is common for adults to not fully understand the needs of a child. The happiness of your children may be the key to their future success. Here are some guidelines to remember:

The child who gets the best grades is almost never the happiest kid, because happiness is not measured in these values.

Children don’t need many toys. More important is a simple, worry-free life and more time spent with their parents.

Children should be free to explore everything and decide for themselves what they like and what makes them happy.

Children observe our behavior as well as our attitudes, and inevitably mirror them in their own lives; don’t raise your children, raise yourself.

Realize that grades do not always reflect reality, and that a high grade does not always correspond to happiness.

Parents must motivate their children to pursue their own hopes and dreams.

Allow your children the freedom to explore the world with their own eyes and senses and the freedom to express their emotions and feelings.

With the above tips in mind, parents will be better able to lay the foundation for the future success of their children.

John Lennon

Happiness is perhaps the most abstract concept that mankind can face. It’s an inner process that differs from person to person. Many parents are wrong thinking that happiness equals success. A child driven only and exclusively towards perfection and success will be a grown-up with a fear of failure. Such fear has little to do with happiness. A parent who always expects the best from their child may be cultivating a sense of never being good enough, of never having done enough. By focusing only on success, a parent may inadvertently reduce their child’s self-esteem or cause their child’s happiness to depend primarily on the acceptance of others. According to the American Psychological Association, adolescent depression is increasing at an alarming rate. In many cases, depression is caused by a lack of self-esteem created by over-demanding parents who are obsessed by their child’s success. It is more important for a child to be happy than to be first among their class.

SIGNS

YOUR CHILD IS

Do not forget that children are not a project to be crowned with success. Rather, they are individuals with their own dreams, desires and hopes. When parents’ sole pursuit for their children is success, these children may grow up to be successful adults, but may never truly feel happy or fully enjoy their own life. According to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, “All grown-ups were once children, but only a few of them remember it”. It is in your power to make sure that your children enjoy a happy childhood and carry that happiness into their adult lives. 44

AFTER THE PANDEMIC

A RECENT STUDY FOUND THAT NEARLY HALF OF AMERICANS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COME UP WITH JUST $400 IN SAVINGS IF THEY HAD AN EMERGENCY OR NEEDED THE FUNDS. THAT DOESN’T SOUND VERY OPTIMISTIC. WE ASKED FOUR DIFFERENT EXPERTS TO SHARE THEIR BEST SAVINGS TIPS. HERE’S WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY.

The thought of replacing your windows might seem costly. You might wonder why bother replacing them if they are functioning fine right now. We will share two ways you can save money by replacing your old windows. Our experts in this field are Vladimir and Andrew Valulchik, owners of the well-known and trustworthy company “Smart Energy Solutions”. This company has provided quality service and reliable products throughout the Greater Sacramento and Bay Area for more than a decade. NEW WINDOWS CAN LOWER YOUR UTILITY BILLS AND CUT DOWN ON NOISE. Old windows can be a significant source of heat loss. New, energy-efficient windows are more air-tight than traditional, single-pane windows. New windows prevent outside air from getting in and inside air from getting out. Energy-efficient glass may also have a special coating that blocks heat from entering your home in the summer and keeps heat in your home during the winter.

INCREASE YOUR HOUSE RESALE VALUE AND IMPROVE ITS APPEARANCE. Replacing your windows can increase the value of your home when you move. Potential homebuyers may be willing to pay more for a home that is energy-efficient because it offers the promise of energy savings for years to come. Replacing your windows with new energyefficient windows can return up to 72% of the project cost upon resale. FINAL NOTE: Replacing the windows in your home is a good investment, and offers a strong return for what you spend. In fact, it’s one of the most valuable home improvements you can make.

The increased variety of online real estate websites and advertised ease of transactions has resulted in some buyers and sellers believing that they can and should bypass working with licensed real estate agents. In reality, these knowledgeable professionals can not only save you money, but will also help avoid losses from unforeseen expenditures. We asked experienced and knowledgeable realtor, Irina Pankratova, to share some of the reasons as to why you should consider working with an agent. HOW AN AGENT CAN BENEFIT A SELLER? An experienced agent has the knowledge to position your home to sell at the highest possible price. They will provide you with all the necessary marketing materials and use proven selling techniques to place your property in the optimal position. Professional virtual tours and photography, wide internet exposure, home staging advice, buyer feedback and private showings, counteroffer and negotiation expertise,

suggestions for dealing with low appraisals are just some of the services that you receive when hiring a professional agent. HOW AN AGENT CAN BENEFIT A BUYER? Contrary to popular belief, a buyer’s agent does more than finding the perfect property for you. Once the property is selected, the real work of an agent begins. The agent will provide you with all the necessary information to purchase the home and professionally negotiate on your behalf. An agent can tell you about listings before homes are available to the public, provide comparable sales in the area, suggest pricing strategy, prepare a strong offer that presents your property in the best light, review documents for loopholes and obtain disclosures. Even when buying a new house from the builder, I strongly advise that you use your own agent. NEGOTIATION KNOWLEDGE Professional negotiation is key. Real estate agents have to negotiate with sellers, builders, closing agents, brokers and all parties involved. Agents can negotiate a seller down on price and help a seller avoid costly repairs. CONTRACTS A purchase contract is created to protect you and ensure that you are able to back out of the deal if certain conditions are not met. Contracts can be hard to understand, especially since they change every few years. You can lose your deposit if it is not done properly.

Irina Pa nkratova Compan RE/MAXy: Experien c 16 yearse:

An experienced real estate agent deals with the contracts and conditions on a regular basis and knows how to use them to protect you, whether you are buying or selling your home. DON’T UNDERVALUE AN AGENT’S CONNECTIONS Professional agents will have an entire arsenal of experts ready to help you through every stage of the home-selling or buying journey. Whether you need repairs, inspections, a lender or legal insight, a good agent will be able to connect you with the right people. FINAL NOTE:

RealtorIrinaP@gmail.com 916-276-1624

While there are certainly people who are qualified to sell their own homes, the process is not as simple as many would assume. Working with a real estate professional can bring you a peace of mind during a major transaction whether you are buying or selling, and it can ultimately leave you with more cash in the bank. When hiring a realtor, be sure to do your homework regarding their experience and credibility in the industry.

You may be earning just enough to pay taxes, you may be skilled enough to file your own returns, and you may even know how to use the right software tools to handle the task by yourself, but there are still many reasons why it’s wiser to hire an accountant. We asked Yuriy Kudelin, an accounting expert, how you can save money if you hire a knowledgeable accountant. SAVES YOU TIME (AND TIME IS MONEY) As a business owner, you need to focus on your business, right? You should delegate some tasks to others in order to grow and expand your business model. Otherwise, it’s not a business, it’s self-employment. Keeping your accounts up to date with a professional accountant helps you understand which of your business investments yield the greatest returns so you can be more strategic.

According to the latest statistic from the Business Insider, over 70% of business owners are using an accountant! Why? Because it’s cheaper for them to outsource their tax chores to a professional, so they can use the time they save to make money doing what they enjoy. Also, skillful accountants know the latest changes to the tax code. That is why they can help you make the best choices about how and when to spend and save money!

KNOW AND USE ALL THE LOOPHOLES

Finding legal “loopholes” in the tax code or in other parts of your business (credit cards, reimbursement, etc.), is exactly what a good accountant should do! Of course, the word “loophole” may carry emotional baggage, as it is often associated with negative and unethical behavior, so this could seem like a controversial statement. Here’s the truth about “loopholes”… they’re built into the tax code. They’re also called “legal deductions”. So, if you hire an experienced professional, you will have more opportunities to grow, develop your business and manage your finances with maximum savings. APPS, CREDIT REIMBURSEMENT AND OTHER TRICKS Business leaders who are committed to hiring extremely competent, qualified, and highly efficient candidates are often most successful. If you hire the right person, you will see positive results almost immediately. The experienced accountant will advise you of the best apps for the easiest tracking of your travel miles, business costs, documents, etc. Your accountant can save you as much money as possible and you will be able to reinvest those savings in your business again. FINAL NOTE: A competent accountant can help you become a better businessperson. You can save time, money and avoid a lot of stressful situations, while growing your company and achieving your business goals.

Running the air conditioner during summer months can make an electricity bill skyrocket, but the alternative isn’t pretty, either. Therefore, we asked Kirill Lukichev, owner of A+Heating & Air, about effective ways that can save you money and significantly lower your utility bills. INSTALL A PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT The biggest benefit programmable thermostats offer is the cost savings. So, one of the most energy-efficient things you can do is set your thermostat at a comfortable temperature that won’t make your unit work too hard, but will still make you feel like you’re sitting pretty. Also, make sure to set the thermostat off in the peak hours (usually from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.) That easy trick will reduce your energy bill. It makes sense to have a system that does it for you automatically, so you can set, and forget. And, of course, save you money!

MAKE HEALTH YOUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY We all know the saying that we are what we eat. But only a few of us realize that one of the most important things in your overall health is the air that you breathe. Every day as you breathe the air inside your home, you also breathe dust particles, dander, pollen, perfumes, pollutants, and even mold. If those items find a way into your air ducts, the problem intensifies. Sealing your ducts with the new AEROSEAL Technology helps eliminate access, so these contaminants stay out of your circulating air. In addition, I highly recommend to invest money in the good air purifier with a UV Light option. UV air purifier can help you avoid these issues by eliminating all the contaminants in the air. An UV air purifier works great against common bacteria and viruses, such as those that cause tuberculosis, measles, the flu and even the common cold. By reducing your exposure to these germs, you’ll have a much better chance of staying healthy. You can test the quality of the air in your home and, with the help of our experts, find the best way to make it cleaner! CONSIDER INSULATION & LED LIGHTS

Kirill Lukic hev C

A+ H ompany eatin : g& Expe Air rience : 15 years

When you think of insulation, you probably think about how insulation can keep your home warm in the winter. In reality, though, insulation is beneficial for your home all year round! Did you know that a home that is underinsulated or not properly insulated can lose between 20% and 30% of its energy? Air leaks around your windows and doors or in your attic or basement can waste your energy. That means that your heater and your air conditioner will have to work harder to keep your home warm or cool (and a harder-working HVAC system means a higher energy bill). With proper home insulation, you can keep your home efficient and keep your energy bills down. Another great way to save your money is switching your home or business lighting to LED because it is energy efficient and lasts much longer. You probably don’t know that if you are using old-fashioned, incandescent light bulbs, more than 80% of the electricity they use is turned into heat rather than light. Therefore, LED is a great investment if you want to spend less on electricity and keep your house cooler at the same time. FINAL NOTE:

When you choose A+Heating & Air, you choose the best quality systems with the best price and the best installers around. We also offer a special rate of 0% APR with 18 equal, monthly payments. INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT VARIOUS JOBS

DR. STEPHEN J. RONAN:

by Olga Garicichina Featured Guest: Dr. Stephen J. Ronan Occupation: Plastic Surgeon at the Blackhawk Plastic Surgery & MedSPA

WHAT ARE THE MOST POPULAR PROCEDURES AMONG PATIENTS? We do most everything that I believe is beneficial for patients and stay away from gimmicky things that aren’t in a patient’s best interest. Broadly, we do surgery, injectables, laser technology and aesthetician services. Surgery is most types of facial, breast and body procedures as well as hair restoration. Facelifts, nose jobs, breast augmentation (many with lift), tummy tucks and revisional surgery are the majority of surgeries that I perform. We have a large injectable (wrinkles) and filler practice. I’m also the Medical Director of one of the largest public laser companies, so we have a tremendous amount of technology for non-surgical services. We often run three rooms for the aestheticians and work closely with the HydraFacial Company for large cooperative events. 50

WHAT IS THE BEST AGE TO HAVE PLASTIC SURGERY?

es to your body, do it in a thoughtful and deliberate manner so that you don’t regret it later.

Age is not the concern. The patient must be healthy enough for the procedure. The patient’s concern must be reasonable, and I must believe that doing the procedure justifies the costs, risks, and downtime. DO YOU HAVE PATIENTS WHO WERE ADDICTED TO PLASTIC SURGERY? No, I don’t. The whole idea of addiction to plastic surgery is an unfortunate media creation. The vast majority of people that come to my office are very normal people with a specific complaint, usually related to aging or from having kids. The media needs something sensational to sell so they often cherry pick the weird things! WHAT CELEBRITY WOULD YOU RATE AS A PERFECT CREATION BY THE PLASTIC SURGEON?

Of course, there is no single piece. There are so many! I have read more on the subjects of society, economy and the interactions between people than I have on plastic surgery. With respect to movies, I loved the Matrix trilogy as it sure seems to fit what we are seeing right now. With music, I am a rocker! WHICH WOULD BE HARDER FOR YOU TO GIVE UP: COFFEE OR PIZZA? Coffee! I like a low carb diet so I don’t have pizza very often. The biggest exception is when I make my own using the pizza oven in my backyard! You can’t pass up those pizzas. WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

Perfect celebrity??? HAHAHAHAHA! Are there any? I hope that we aren’t creating celebrities. It would be better if they became known for their talent. The celebrity plastic surgery chatter is similar to the addiction talk. It’s mostly media driven and perhaps not the most useful information for other people. WHAT IS THE CRAZIEST THING ONE OF YOUR CLIENTS ASKED YOU TO PERFORM?

WHAT PIECE OF ART (BOOK, MUSIC, MOVIE, ETC.) MOST INFLUENCED THE PERSON YOU ARE TODAY?

I’m fortunate to have a very interesting and fulfilling job. While being very heavily science and engineering oriented, it is also very artistic. This allows me to work on both sides of my brain! In addition, I get to interact daily with a wonderful staff and wonderful (and sometimes challenging) patients. The best part is that I am able make substantial improvements in peoples’ lives and make them happy.

When you make changes to your body, do it in a thoughtful and deliberate manner so that you don’t regret it later

Some years ago, a woman came to my office with an undesired sleeve arm tattoo. She asked me to cut all the skin off from her arm and use her legs to harvest skin grafts to repair it. Of course, for the rest of her life this would leave her arms terribly deformed and her thighs with significant scars. Yet, she was insistent and wanted to proceed. She told me about how she got the tattoos when she lived in San Francisco and was part of the “artsy-fartsy” scene. She thought it was cool at the time. More recently, she married a great guy who lives in the suburbs with two young children. She was very determined to make the marriage and family work. She felt humiliated at school when she saw the other moms. So much so, that she would rather have the life-long scarring than endure her own embarrassment. Fortunately, I was helping design and test a new laser for tattoo removal and we were able to get her done as a test subject. The moral of the story is that when you make chang-

IF YOU COULD RE-DO ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE, WHICH DAY WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

I am in a great place in my life. My decisions, both good and bad, have provided a variety of experiences from which I have learned valuable lessons. I would not be who I am today without them. Therefore, I would not change anything. But I know that the future is always brighter, so I look forward, not backward. WHAT’S THE ONE SKILL YOU THINK EVERY SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR SHOULD HAVE? If it only took one skill more people could do it! Certainly vision, passion, measured risk taking, and ability to adapt are critical. Perseverance is ever so important. There will be obstacles and set backs. Problems are better viewed as experiences rather than failures. Learn and move forward!

Day #34

Awakened by the alarm pre-set the night before, I turned towards the sunlight. The day promised to be warm and nice. I felt it by breathing in the light scent of spring and feeling the warm touch of sunshine. But almost immediately, the buzzing appeared. The utter feeling of alertness and nervousness was building up deep inside my mind and body. I recognized it immediately and cringed at the thought of another day.

I constantly felt the waves of excitement! The same ones I had with all my ten (or was it twenty) previous attempts. But this time it was different. My sanity was at stake and, well, there wasn’t really anything else to do. So, yes, I was seriously determined. I was also curious. Do I really have the strength to commit to something as strict as a simple diet? What results could I expect? Would that change anything… either physically or mentally? And finally, the scariest question, do I have the willpower or not? With more than enough reasons, I began planning. To make it even more entertaining, I decided to make it a marathon. I had set a one month term where each week would be a different diet. That would help to spice up the challenge and encourage me not to quit prematurely. Moreover, I wasn’t planning to weigh myself throughout the entire diet because it wasn’t about the weight. Well, maybe only partially… Being stuck at home for such a long time was beginning to take a toll. I realized that if I didn’t do something, the impact of the groundhog’s day scenario would keep building and eventually lead to inner destruction and devastation. There was nothing promising ahead for either me or for my beloved family. But what could possibly break this vicious cycle and be effective enough to distract me from the surrounding perfect storm? The answer came to me; it was simple. It was timely and it was convenient.

I WILL BE DIETING!

So, after a few hours of Internet research, I ended up with three diets. I made a quick drive to the nearest supermarket and was ready to start.

Let me warn you I’M AN AMATEUR AND MY INTERPRETATION OF EACH DIET MIGHT HAVE BEEN A LITTLE BIT MISCALCULATED. I TRIED MY BEST WITH ALL THOSE CARBS, PROTEINS, AND HARDLY READABLE ABRACADABRA. JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND.

1

n i e t o r P Diet week #

My first choice was a high-protein diet. I had to eat every two hours, the portions were fairly good sized, and the choice was wide. What could possibly go wrong? Well, the first three days were actually amazing. I felt full, energetic, and happy. But then things got worse. Despite the large amount of food, which I wasn’t enjoying anymore, I started to run out of energy. It was hard to move, my memory deteriorated, and reality became to feel a bit surreal. But there were also positive effects. I felt totally calm. Online schooling wasn’t stressful anymore and I started to care less about the news. Bingo! RUSSIAN TIME MAGAZINE

By the end of week one, I was happy that I had decided to go with my marathon plan. There was no way I would have been able to continue that torture. But, thanks to myself, I had something to look forward to — a week of good, old Keto!

2

Week two started as a breath of fresh air. Fats, sweets, and fats again. The first few days were a blast! But day three brought new surprises. Again. Not that it was much of a surprise. I’ve read about possible side effects; I just didn’t expect all of them. Let’s skip the details, but everything you’ve heard about Keto is true. The smell, the taste in your mouth, flu-kind symptoms. Honestly, it wasn’t cool. But there were some pluses. Again. I was full of energy, my mind was sharp, and I literally felt my body transforming. Week two finished way better than week one, but

eto K wee#k

I STILL WAS HAPPY IT ENDED.

3

Week four, I decided to keep practicing IF with slightly different intervals of 16/8. I stopped counting calories and even allowed myself ‘cheat’ meals. I didn’t feel the urge to check my weight; I knew it changed. But that weight wasn’t just off my body; it was also off my mind. For the first time in a while, I felt calm, free, and happy. I was myself again.

RUSSIAN TIME MAGAZINE

I woke up to my favorite song. I looked at the curtains trying to catch a glimpse of outside. The morning sky was covered with dramatic strikes of blue ink threatening the earth to break into thousands of tears. The slightly opened window let in the cold breeze that was soaked with a heady mix of dust, moisture, and grass. I anticipated this moment and froze, carefully listening to my inner self. The buzzing was gone. I sent a silent thank you to the outer world and smiled.

t n e t t i m r e Int g n i t k s a e f e w #

For week three, I chose intermittent fasting (IF). I will be honest. I’ve done it before and that’s why it was my choice for the third week. I find it easy and pleasurable. The hardest thing is to get used to intervals, which in my case was 18 hours of fasting and a six-hour window for eating. The first two weeks helped me normalize my sugar levels and tame my cravings.

THE BEST & EASIEST

home made

ICE CREAM by Olga Garicichina

Ice cream is one of the best parts of summer, if not the best part of summer. You don’t need an expensive ice cream machine to enjoy homemade ice cream. We’ll show you the easiest way to make ice cream at home. This is the easiest Homemade Ice Cream recipe because you only need 2 Ingredients and no ice cream machine. Just imagine! When you make your own ice cream, you combine fresh, rich ingredients with the flavorings and add-ins of your choice, for a delectable experience.

VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM

YOU WILL NEED: Condensed milk — 1 can Heavy whipping cream — 500 ml Vanilla Extract

PREPARATION: Start by whipping up cold heavy cream for about 2-3 minutes until the cream forms soft peaks. Once whipped, you add in your condensed milk. Ensure that both ingredients are very cold when you combine them so they come together in a perfect marriage. Add in your vanilla extract, which is optional, at this stage and whip until you have stiff peaks, about 2-3 minutes. Freeze for the 15 minutes and enjoy!

58

RUSSIAN TIME MAGAZINE

TIP: Add in additional ingredients like, chocolate syrup, or nuts, or sprinkles, and you’ve just created your own ice cream recipe.

WONDERBERRY ICE CREAM

YOU WILL NEED:

PREPARATION:

Frozen berries mix, or any other frozen fruit — one bag (10 oz) Condensed milk — 1 can

Blend it until the texture becomes silky and smooth.

My favorite way to eat it is soft serve, straight out of the blender as soon as it’s done, but you can also freeze it so it is firm enough to scoop out and serve in cones. This sweet treat is just as delicious as real ice cream, but without the need for added sugar, eggs, or an ice cream maker.
