As the United States Congresswoman for California's Seventh District, I am honored to welcome you all to the 20th Annual International Kids Festival hosted by the Council for CrossCultural Affairs, with the support of Russian American Media, the Slavic Community Center of Sacramento, Community Outreach Academy, and the Slavic American Chamber of Commerce. This festival highlights the incredible diversity of the Sacramento region. Across our communities, we share our cultural experiences, our struggles, and our hope to lift each other up. I commend the Council for Cross-Cultural Affairs and its partners for their dedication to this festival and the robust cultural exchange it fosters.
The International Kids Festival was founded twenty years ago as a way for the Russian speaking community in Sacramento to celebrate their cultural heritage. Two decades later, the festival has grown to include cultural presentations from the many different communities who have made Sacramento their home and a multicultural art hub. At this year's festival, we will see performers, artists, and small businesses from every part of the diverse fabric of the Sacramento community. The exchanges this festival facilitated will continue to foster broader community conversations that transcend physical, language, and cultural barriers for many years to come.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 20th Annual International Kid’s Festival! This is a great opportunity for kids, both big and small, to get out and have little bit of fun in a beautiful setting. Thank you for being here.
As a Sacramento County Supervisor, I see firsthand the value of investing in our youngest residents and having these events brings the community together, which pays dividends to all our wellbeing. Kids need opportunities to be kids and I’m so happy to be able to be here amongst so many smiling faces.
I’d also like to thank Russian American Media, Community Academy Outreach and the Council for Cross Cultural Affairs for putting on today’s event, as well as all of the sponsors for their support. There are opportunities for interaction, burning some energy and maybe even learning a little bit about cultures different from our own.

I commend the Council for Cross-Cultural Affairs for working diligently to increase support for multicultural communities, so that they can become fully integrated into American culture. Their mission of unity and collaboration is needed more than ever.
For almost two decades, The International Kids Festival has brought together thousands of families of different ethnic backgrounds by allowing them to share and celebrate their respective cultures. This festival puts many organizations and local businesses in touch with underserved communities and builds lasting relationships. Your dedication to celebrating diversity in our community has impacted people across the Sacramento region.
Throughout my career, I have worked hard to ensure that underrepresented communities and residents with higher needs are able to have equitable access to services and resources in order to thrive, and are recognized for their contributions to our community. As the newly-elected Senator representing California's 8th District, I plan to continue supporting organizations like the Council for Cross-Cultural Affairs, which does exactly that.

Originally from Central Asia, Sergey Veretennikov immigrated to the town of Manteca, CA at age 13, where he completed high school. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior from UC Davis.
Dr. Veretennikov is a proud graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. He completed the Family Medicine Residency Program with Dignity Health at Methodist Hospital.
