You’ve submitted 5 photoshoots to Coverboy. What attracts you to our magazine? Well I think it’s a good publication and features some great work from photographers and models. Can you tell us a bit about what it was like to work with Andrei & Leo? They were great to work with. I have shot with Leo a few times. He is an amazing guy and is great in front of the camera. Andrei was amazing too this was our first shoot, but he was a lot of fun on the shoot and easy going. I didn’t have to direct him on the shoot he just delivered every time. Your work for this issue took you outside. Do you prefer natural light, or do you prefer to have more control?
I normally do studio shoots because its easier with lighting, but I do love shooting on location. It just adds so much to the story you’re trying to tell with the shoot, so I am trying to do more of that. Is the shadow as important as the light? Yes it can give such a great mood to a shoot, and create drama. What distinguishes you from other photographers? I am not sure, LOL! I am so influenced by so many other photographers, and sometimes I simulate their work, but with my feel. But I hope that people can tell by seeing an image and know that it’s my work.

COVER model How do you break the ice with a model? I like it when it’s a small crew on set, or just me and the model. It is more intimate and comfortable so that the model is not as shy in the beginning, and I love to joke and make them laugh. What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? To be in control of a shoot, and that is so true, because when it’s a lot of people on set it can get out of control and then everyone becomes an art director, LOL! So know what you want to get out of the shoot and stick with it. What’s been your worst & best experience as a photographer? The best was when a publishing company contacted me about doing a coffee table book of my work. That was awesome! The worst was when my computer crashed and I lost all my work!

Oh no! Do you now back up your work? OMG I have it backed up on two external hard drives and on CD! LOL lesson learned. What’s the most difficult part of your job? Staying on top of everything, booking shoots with all the agencys , editing for all my clients and magazines and I also have a full time day job. If you had one day to shoot anything you want what would you do?

OMG thats so hard to answer LOL! There are so many places and people that I would love to work with. What do you do when you’re not behind the camera? I work at the museums at the Fashion Institute in NYC. I work with the curators in putting up the exhibitions and if I am not shooting I am editing. I really don’t have that much time for fun. I am a workaholic. What does the future hold for Thomas Synnamon? Well I am working on my next book, and looking to do a lot more editorial shoots for more magazines, and maybe have some fun in between LOL.

den wok www.facebook.com/den.wok You recently worked with Salvador Pozo, who submitted a photoshoot for our last issue, what was it like to work with him?
drey Korniv. But I have been told to be faithful, a loyal person and caring for others. Loyalty is a quality that I also appreciate the most.
Every artist is unique. Salvador is a very talented photographer. I liked the way he experiments during his work. We did several photoshoots, and it was good because he found the perfect shots he was looking for. We even went to shoot in a garden near his house. I was lying in the leaves, nude. And it was awesome.
I go for healthy and fresh meals. Because I train hard I need a lot of energy. My favorite food is sea food, especially prawns and langoustines. I’m loving it.
Do you find it difficult to work with photographers who don’t speak Russian?
Do you have any ambitions to work behind the camera?
I always experience some linguistic difficulties. Everything depends on the circumstances and people. But languages it’s not a real obstacle for creative minds.
To be honest I never thought of that. I think people are born to be photographers, you don’t become an artist.
What’s something about you that most people wouldn’t know? This is not an easy question to answer. You better ask my friends or my agent Mr. An-
You eat fruits, vegetables, and seafood to stay fit, but what is your favorite meal?

STRIPPING DOWN TO THE STUD By Rodney McMann
This winter, Lai and Cheng are up at bat again with a brand new Stud line they’re calling We/ Are/Stud. The theme for the latest collection is masculinity, available now at LAJock.com. Are you man enough? Why celebrate masculinity? We believe masculinity is a big part of what the modern man is about.
Out designers Voon Lai and Jonathan Cheng met through friends six years ago. They became fast friends when they discovered a mutual interest in fashion design. In 2009, they founded Stud as a lifestyle sports brand that would fill a niche between the bland big brands and the overtly sexual smaller labels. “We saw potential in offering exuberant and energetic gear with a commercial appeal,” explains Voon Lai. From the start, Stud enjoyed a successful run in Asia. Then, in 2011, the brand hit the world stage with its Winner Takes All line. The collection was heralded for its spirited interpretation of the modern athlete. It was quickly followed with this summer’s “Of Uth and Brothers”. Produced in a striking color palette of blues, reds, purple and yellow and featuring bold messages such as “Wear It Proud” and “Made with Pride”, the summer collection struck a chord with young athletes and wanna-be jocks who aimed to add a bit of flair beneath their sports uniforms.
Yet these are designer briefs. Wouldn’t you agree that anything ‘designer’ leans toward a feminine sensibility? Even burly guys will wear designer briefs if they’re made to look masculine. The winter collection features a new version of Stud’s popular Wear It Proud brief. What does Wear It Proud mean to you? It’s a declaration to be comfortable with who you are. Even more than that - be proud of who you are. Whether it’s your sexuality, background, ethnicity, belief, or principle: own it and love it. Isn’t pride a bad thing? It’s among the seven deadly sins. On the contrary, we regard pride as highly noble! Before you can learn to love others and the world around you, you have to love yourself. How can that be a bad thing?
