RHIZOME OF ENTITY

Date of completion: November 2022

Description: The Rhizome of Entity is a pencil drawing done on an 11’ x 14’ sketch book. This was done with the intention to show how firm and strong the foundation of a tree is. I believe no one is meant to do life alone and in order to succeed one needs to have a strong foundation and support system. The same way a tree consists of strong roots that feed it and enable it grow is the same way a strong support system of family and friends friends can help one grow as an individual.

THE CROSSROAD

Date of Completion: December 2022

Elucidation: The crossroad is a. 11” x 14” pencil drawn art piece. The concept behind this piece was to show two styles of Architecture I grew up surrounded by in Zimbabwe. The art above is a portrait frame with a spiral staircase as a the Spinal Cord Vertebrae which supports the persons head. However, this head when the image is rotated right side up, the audience will notice that it transforms into the traditional African hut that is standing on top of the two point perspective modern skyscraper. In addition, if the image is rotated once more, the skyscraper balances on top of the hut, depicting the shift and change in architecture over the past decades.

However, I was determined and keen on learning I continued to work on my skill therefore resulting in enmeshed braids unraveling. OVERPASS

Date of Completion: January 2022

Elucidation: ‘OVERPASS’ is an 8.3” x 11.7”

multimedia done on cold pressed painting paper. It is done in water paint and pen. This painting was inspired by the place I often envision myself at whenever I wanted to get an escape of reality. In my country there are not many places like this snd unfortunately I never got the chance to visit the few we have because. Despite the circumstances, whenever I went through a rough patch I would close my eyes and relax and imagine a place the one above. The bridge represents the path of crossing from a dark and sombre place to a much clearer and vivid headspace.

Date of Completion: December 2020

Elucidation: ‘LAMP’ is a craftwork project I decided to take up on my own. I made a lamp stand for my music notes from scratch using tree barks and wood. The chandelier around the lamp was made from dried leaves and Bougainvillea flowers. The reason why I decided to do this project was because I went to an all boys school after they decided to introduce girls in the system. There were 12 girls in total, however I was the only girl that played the piano and drum kit. As a result I spent most of my time at the schools music Centre. The piano faced a window and through that window was a beautiful Bougainvillea flower garden consisting of those flowers in different colors. So this piece was a reminder of the place I spent most of my time playing instruments that I love.
