WE DID IT–SNOWDON COMPLETE!
What a day! Our Snowdon Challenge proved to be one of the most rewarding and emotional experiences we've shared as a team.
Setting off from Pen-y-Pass in already intense heat, it didn't take long before the steep climbs, endless stone steps and rocky scrambling reminded us why Snowdon commands so much respect.
As the temperature rose, the heat began to take its toll on all of us. True to character, Sophie was determined to keep going, but as the climb became more demanding it became clear she was pushing herself beyond what was safe to continue. Turning back was an incredibly difficult decision, but absolutely the right one.
After returning Sophie safely down the mountain, Jane, Andy and I started the climb again. Higher up, Snowdon revealed more of its character. The terrain became increasingly rugged and exposed before,
quite suddenly, we climbed up into the cloud. The spectacular views disappeared into thick mist, strong winds swept across the mountain and, shortly after we reached the summit, the Snowdon Mountain Railway suspended services because of the conditions.
Jane was a constant source of encouragement throughout, while Andy, taking on his first mountain of this scale, showed incredible determination. Hour after hour, he simply kept finding another step until we finally stood together on the summit.
Thanks to the amazing generosity of our patients, friends, family and local community, we've now raisedfor £850 Syston & District Volunteer Centre.
Most importantly, everyone came home safely, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who supported us along the way.
