Welcome Founded in 1988 and originally operating from home, we couldn’t have imagined in our wildest dreams that 25 years later we would be celebrating such a momentous milestone.

Over the 25 years we have seen 7 Summer Olympic Games, moved premises 3 times and sadly lost many family and friends. But as the next generation emerges to take the reins to inspire a new generation, we are proud that our ‘one-stop-shopping’ policy and 4 key aims of service, advice, choice and value have truly stood the test of time.

Lincoln Civic Award 2013 In February, Running Imp celebrated its 25th anniversary and on April 18th Lincoln’s Mayor Councillor Karen Lee presented its directors with the prestigious Civic Award, at a glittering ceremony in the City’s Guildhall.

“It was a fantastic surprise to learn we had won the Lincoln Civic Award and it is extra special to be receiving this in our 25th anniversary year. We see it as a tremendous honour and something which is appreciated by everyone for us.

“It reflects the continued hard work and dedication of our staff and the fact that they are also committed to putting something back into society, by doing their bit to raise money for good causes.”

The highly-coveted award is a striking silver accolade, crafted in the style of an eight-sided obelisk. It stands 19 inches high and celebrates the very best of traditional values and contemporary design.

First awarded in 1967 it is given to express the thanks of the Citizens of Lincoln to a person or group of persons or society or company or an organisation for an achievement which has, in the opinion of the trustees, brought credit to the City and is itself of outstanding merit. Lincoln Civic Award Trustees Chairman Richard Vigar said: “This is an absolutely magnificent award and Running Imp is an outstanding and worthy winner.

“The company was nominated because of its amazing support for various community projects during its 25 years in business. Not only has it built up a successful business since starting out in 1988, creating various employment opportunities, it also supports many projects every year.

“In 2013 it is supporting St Barnabas Hospice, but in recent years it has also made donations to its annually-nominated charities, including £13,000 to The Princes Trust in 2012; £8,500 to The British Heart Foundation in 2011 and £7,000 to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in 2010. Chris Illsley has also been heavily involved in the Lincoln Santa Run, which has just raised another £63,162 for local charities.”

Running Imp joins an impressive list of individuals, organisations and businesses, which have been presented with the Civic Award since 1967. Past recipients include Lincoln City Football Club, the Lincolnshire Echo, Micrometric Techniques’ founder Dr Maurice Gates, and sports presenter John Inverdale.
