SALUTE
ello and welcome to another exciting year with Miss Virginia Volunteer! Tonight we are here to cheer on this extraordinary and diverse group of young women and celebrate their backgrounds, talents, experiences, and abilities!
I am grateful and humbled to be the Executive Director of the Miss Virginia Volunteer program. I am so thankful for the many wonderful people who have come alongside me and for all the support and encouragement we've received from the community. I feel so blessed for the opportunity to mentor these young women — from our precious Princesses to our blossoming Teens all the way to our show-stopping Misses — and my desire is to give insight to their abilities, to showcase their unique personalities, to raise awareness of their personal platforms, to teach them the importance of volunteerism, and to show them that crowns can lead to careers!
By providing scholarships and educational opportunities, my hope is that these talented and committed young women will use their status and experience to make a difference in their communities through their social platforms and personal and professional lives. I believe that each contestant can — and will —change the world! Now, all eyes are on these incredible young women as they take the stage tonight, and I am so proud of them for so beautifully representing Virginia and all that we stand for. As we celebrate each outstanding moment tonight, let us all continue to share in the spirit of generosity, sisterhood, and community!
ALL MY LOVE,
More than a competition, Miss Virginia Volunteer is a community that provides connections, opportunities, and lasting impact for young women throughout our great state. Our mission is to educate and empower young women across Virginia through workshops, seminars, scholarships and opportunities, volunteerism, and events like the Miss Virginia Volunteer Pageant!
We believe strongly in our mission to help young women become successful and confident in all aspects of life. By providing scholarships for excellence in education and cultivating responsibility, empowerment, growth and more, we offer these women the tools to go out and lead others to accomplish the same principles.
Miss Virginia Volunteer is a chapter of the nationwide, service-oriented scholarship program based in Tennessee that seeks to empower young women across the country through educational scholarships and extraordinary opportunities.

Through your legacy the lives of young women continue to be impacted, communities continue to be improved, and the mission of Miss Virginia Volunteer continues to be accomplished. We pride ourselves on this unique opportunity to shape not only the personal lives of our participants but also the lives of those they touch in their communities.
Virginia… I can’t believe it either. A year ago, I never could’ve imagined what was ahead. And yet, here I am— standing on the other side of the most transformative year of my life. To say that this title changed me would be an understatement. Being Miss Virginia Volunteer has been the honor of a lifetime (and yes, I mean that with all the pageant dramatics in full force).
When I was three years old, my biggest dream was to become a princess. Nearly twenty years later, I think I’ve lived that dream, and so much more. Thirteen years of pageantry have shaped me in ways I never expected. The journey wasn’t always easy. It’s been filled with growing pains, self-discovery, and some of the hardest battles I’ve ever faced - most of them alone, in the quiet moments, with no crown in sight.
I am continuing to overcome a speech impediment. I relearned how to dance when my body stopped cooperating. I pushed myself mentally, emotionally, and physically. And through it all, I held tight to my purpose.
This year, I gave everything I had to this role. I took 73 credit hours, led three major organizations at the University of Oklahoma, added a major, mentored 332 young women— and somehow found time to serve over 620 hours, travel 63,000 miles, and expand Teach Next Gen to 60,000 students in 43 states and one U.S. territory. I became a brand ambassador for The Salvation Army and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I lost sleep. I burned out. But I never lost sight of why I said “yes” to this job. And still, none of
those numbers—not the miles, not the hours, not the titles— compare to the people. The conversations. The small, sacred moments that left fingerprints on my heart.
There have been moments this year that truly altered me— ones that shifted my perspective and forever changed my heart.
Meeting Luna at St. Jude’s was one of those moments. She was going home, not because she had beaten her illness, but to be surrounded by loved ones before heading to her eternal rest. In that room, I witnessed the true power of St. Jude: a place of compassion, dignity, and unwavering hope. That hospital tour changed me, and the stories shared and staff I met will remain etched in my heart forever.
Serving with The Salvation Army has also ignited a flame within me. I became a weekly volunteer, not out of obligation but because my heart compelled me to keep showing up. Leading the Angel Train Express was a dream come true, bringing Christmas joy and awareness to thousands across Virginia through the Miss Virginia Volunteer Organization. My time at Red Shield Kids Club, community feedings, stocking food pantry shelves, and ringing bells in the chilly winter air were more than service hours, they were soul-filling moments of connection and compassion. I will never forget visiting the Roanoke Turning Point Shelter with Miss Tammy, nor the laughter-filled bell-ringing shifts with Captain Mumford in Fredericksburg. Through every jingle and every shared smile, I learned that The Salvation Army truly embodies “Doing Good” with love, grace, and

boundless purpose. I could go on and on about the unforgettable highlights of this year—from being recognized at the Capitol, to having lunch with Demi Tebow, to road-tripping ten hours with the entire Runk family. And let me tell you, that drive may have been the highlight of my entire year, especially the midnight grand tour of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. But truly, what made this year so special was the people.
To my incredible board—Kari, Harlen, Vicki, Kyle, and Linda—thank you for saying “yes” to my wild ideas, for carpooling me across Virginia like I was real royalty with a Google Calendar, and for loving me as Haleigh, not just Miss Virginia Volunteer. Your mock interviews were brutal (and effective), your support was endless, and your belief in me meant the world. I’m so proud to be yours.
My teenie boppers— Sheradyn and Jeanie—y’all are a complete and utter mess, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Sher, watching you grow this year has been a gift. I know it wasn’t always easy, but you’ve carried yourself with grace, grit, and a quiet strength I deeply admire. Your confidence and resilience is something to be proud of, and believe me, I am. Jeanie in a bottle… you’re stuck with me forever. From our 4-hour Cookout debriefs and way-too-many milkshakes, to scream-laughing with Beth at Miss Virginia Teen USA, you’ve been my joy on the hard days. I know I can always count on you, to make me laugh until I cry and to give me directions that somehow lead me further from where I started. I don’t think Florida is ready for you, but I know I’m not ready to let you go.
way you love and uplift every single young woman who walks into this program. You lead with such grace, compassion, and strength, filling each girl with confidence and purpose. Vickie, I genuinely aspire to be like you one day. You embody what it means to be a faithful servant, and it’s so evident that God’s favor rests on you. I pray that I can become even half the woman, wife, mother, and mentor that you are.
And of course, I couldn’t forget Brian! It was such an honor to be your “Patrick Mahomes.” Thank you for welcoming me into your family, for being one of my biggest cheerleaders, and for introducing me to the world of hockey. Your encouragement, kind smile, positivity, and mentorship are gifts I’ll always carry with me.
Mark and Jason—y’all are truly a hoot and a holler! This year has been incredibly meaningful, and I’ll never forget the kindness, laughter, and support you both have poured into me. Mark, you’re officially stuck with me for life. I’m going to miss your perfectly timed dry humor and your even better hugs. Jason, you’ve been such a constant for me this year. My talent track wouldn’t have been possible without your guidance, and getting to know you and your sweet family has been such a joy. Thank y’all for always being in my corner—I’m better because of it.
Vickie, where do I even begin? God truly knew what He was doing when He placed you in my life. I have so much admiration—not just for all you’ve done for me, but for the
To my new siblings: Chandler, Christopher, and Caitlyn— Chandler, you might actually be the kindest human I’ve ever met. Truly. You love with your whole heart and radiate goodness in everything you do. Thank you for having immense patience during my golf journey—I think it’s safe to say you’ve officially prepped me for the PGA Tour (or at least for Top Golf). Thanks for the laughs, the lessons, and for letting me drive imaginary NASCARs like a pro on the simulator. Christopher, I finally met someone more highmaintenance than me! But truly, I couldn’t have survived this year without you. From our 2 a.m. brainstorm sessions to turning my chaotic dreams into content, editing every single photo, and keeping me up to date on Wednesday and Stranger Things, you’ve been my rock and my hype squad rolled into one. I don’t know who I am going to call now when my TV or wifi is not working! Your friendship is forever, and so is your job editing my photos.
Caitlyn, I always dreamed of having a big sister, and God gave me you. I have no clue who I’m going to coordinate outfits with now. You’ve wrapped me in love, kept me on track, and made sure I never missed a beat (or a coffee). I’ll miss your legendary caffeine concoctions, online shopping sleuthing, and your dry, sarcastic take on everything. I cannot wait to keep up with where life will take you, whether that's on Farmer Wants a Wife (this is a joke) or your endless travels. Thank you for being my friend for life.
To my incredible pageant prep team—Lisa, Danyel, Keith, Bill, and Heather—thank you for your endless support, fierce loyalty, and
brutal honesty (emphasis on brutal). You’ve helped me grow in more ways than I can count. This year was about becoming a better version of myself, and I can proudly say I’m leaving this chapter stronger, wiser, and a lot more headstrong, all thanks to y'all. From midnight pep talks and emotional meltdowns to laughter, headlines, and way too many current events quizzes, y’all have seen every version of Haleigh… and you still stuck around. That’s love. This isn’t the end. It’s just the beginning of a lifelong friendship.
Mom and Dad—the incomparable Sara and Troy—how do I even begin to thank you? Everything I am and everything I’ve become is because of your love, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in me. Mom, for the past 13 years, you’ve been so much more than my travel buddy, you’ve been my anchor, my biggest encourager, my voice of calm when the world felt overwhelming. From EARLY morning coffee runs to nightly dinner drop-offs, you’ve given me every ounce of yourself without hesitation. What started as “just a phase” turned into a journey that shaped both of our lives, and I wouldn’t trade a single moment of it. Dad… Dado… my realist, my strategist, my loudest supporter. You pushed me to be better when it mattered most and reminded me to laugh through the hard parts—yes, even when you called me “Big Bird” in front of Sherri Hill. Every bit of advice, every critique,
every “put your heel on their necks until you won” fueled me. Making you proud has been one of my greatest accomplishments. You’ve both loved me so loudly, so fully, that I never once felt the absence of anyone who didn’t. Thank you for being my foundation. I carry your love with me into everything I do.
I have so many more “thank you’s” to give— Miss Linda, Miss Kiera, Jim, Carol, David, Robert, and the entire media team—your kindness, encouragement, and behind-thescenes magic made Virginia feel like home. You have a gift for making people feel seen, loved, and celebrated. Please never stop sharing that light with the world. I’m so grateful to have been on the receiving end of it.
To the next Miss Virginia Volunteer, this is your moment—breathe it in, embrace it fully, and do not waste a second. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. I pray that your journey is everything you’ve dreamed of and more. Take the pictures. Film the videos. Make the memories. This title has the power to change your life—if you let it. I already love you, and just so you know, you’re stuck with me now too.
When I began this journey, I was terrified. I had never competed in a system like Volunteer. I had never worked with a board. I had never been judged on service or required to perform a talent (trust me, the world is better off not hearing me sing). But now, I
walk away ready. Ready to take on the world and to be a “real adult,” whatever that means. As I write this, I can hardly put into words what it means to see this chapter close. I feel every emotion all at once- gratitude, pride, joy, and the bittersweet ache of goodbye. This year was my Super Bowl. And I won. Not because of a crown or title, but because of the memories I’ve made, the lives I’ve touched, and the lifelong friendships I’ve found. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to close out my thirteen-year pageant journey than with these people, this team, and this beautiful Commonwealth. Virginia, you became my home, and I only hope I made you proud.
To every person out there who dares to dream: Dream boldly. Fall hard. Get back up. Learn. Grow. And keep climbing until you reach the stars.
Signing off with Love,
The Academy Center of the Arts is Greater Lynchburg’s go-to center for arts, culture, and entertainment. Our mission is to serve our community through year-round programming, children's camps, art classes, gallery events, pottery courses, and of course a calendar filled with exciting events at the newly renovated Academy Theatre!
The Academy Center of the Arts campus, which encompasses several venues in downtown Lynchburg, is anchored by the Historic Academy of Music Theatre. Originally built in 1905, the Academy was the focal point for entertainment in Lynchburg from the time it opened well into the 1920s. The Academy fell into disrepair and was set to be demolished in the 1960s, until the Friends of the Academy of Music intervened. In 1969, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in hopes the designation would expedite restoration efforts. Eventually, with help from generous donors and the Lynchburg community, the theatre underwent major renovations and restoration efforts from 2015 until it reopened in December 2018 — more than 60 years after it shut its doors to the public. Updates to the 835-seat theatre include state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology, projection screens, and streaming capabilities — all while preserving the 1912-aesthetic that makes this venue a local favorite for theater, music, and quality entertainment!
I would like to thank The Miss Virginia Volunteer Pageant for teaming up with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. With this amazing team we can teach our youth to be proud of their talents and choices that we make each day!

From ringing bells to delivering joy through Angel Tree projects, Haleigh rolled up her sleeves and got hands-on, spreading holiday cheer and hope at every stop. And for a few cities, the journey was made even more special as Miss America Volunteer Berkley Bryant joined as a guest of honor, helping extend

A crown worn on the head will last a year, but a crown worn on the heart will last a lifetime. A year ago, I was crowned your Miss Virginia Teen Volunteer 2025. This was an opportunity I had devoted the past 11 years of my life to. I’m a true Virginia girl at heart, so having the chance to serve and represent my beautiful state was truly a dream come true. This year brought many trials and tribulations my way; however, this crown and sash I’m wearing was a constant reminder of how capable I am and the impact I can have on others. I never fully understood the true relevance of my SERVE Initiative to both my life and the lives of others. I thank God every day for guiding me toward my initiative, SherCares, and the Volunteer Organization.
To my Teen Queen Team: Kari, Kyle, and Linda – I cannot thank y’all enough for the love and support you’ve given me throughout this year, the many hours of mock interviews, and wardrobe assistance. Having you all by my side in Tennessee for nationals meant more to me than you’ll ever realize. I don’t know what I would’ve done without y’all. Kari, thank you for offering a listening ear and helping to ease the weight of my anxiety. I love y’all!
Haleigh and Jeanie, this year would not have been the same without the two of you by my side! I will never forget those first few days spent together in the community where we made lifelong memories. You are both so special. I cannot wait to see where your journey leads. Go do big things!
Mommy, thank you for being my backbone and my best friend through everything I’ve faced. I honestly can’t imagine where I’d be without you by my side. I could write an entire book about our bond, but I’ll save us the tears. Just know how deeply I love you and how grateful I am for everything you’ve done for me.
To the Runks: It is obvious how much time and effort you put into the Miss Virginia Volunteer Organization and how much you love your girls! You have provided so many opportunities through partnerships and sponsorships that will never go unseen. I’m proud to be a part of such an amazing organization! Much love to you all!
Daddy, how lucky am I? You are everything a pageant dad should be. You’ve given me your ear when I needed to talk, your shoulder when I needed to cry, and your wallet when I needed to buy! But seriously, you’ve allowed me to follow my dreams and encouraged me every step of the way. Your jellyfish loves you so, so much!
Jaxy, you like to tell me that I’m “small-town famous” and that people look up to me, but what you don’t understand is that I feel truly blessed to have you as my little brother because it’s me who looks up to you. Thank you for always making me feel special and giving me the extra squeeze when you know I need it most. I love you so much.
To the new Miss Virginia Teen Volunteer: You’ve been chosen for a reason. Always remember that you are exactly as you should be. Even when you don’t realize it, people are looking up to you. Who you are is someone
truly powerful, and you can use that to create real change. I will always be your cheerleader!
As I say goodbye, I’d like to leave you all with this prayer:
Dear God, Thank you for this incredible journey and for the chance to wear this crown. It’s been more than just a title; it’s been a way to grow, learn, and connect with so many amazing people. As I pass this on, I ask for Your guidance and peace in the next steps of my journey. Please bless the new titleholder with confidence, grace, and a heart full of love. May they feel the same joy and support that I’ve felt during my time here. And for everyone who’s been a part of this journey—thank you for the encouragement, the lessons, and the love. Help us be a light in the lives of others through every choice we make. In Your name, we pray, Amen.
For the last time, I am your Miss Virginia Teen Volunteer 2025, Sheradyn Kacee O’Neill!

Most girls would start this off with “A year ago today, my life changed forever,” but my journey didn’t exactly begin after winning the crown. It started three years ago, from the very chairs you’re sitting in right now—wishing for nothing more than to be on this stage.
Many attempts, misspelled sashes, and a bag of chips later… I did it. My name was called as Miss Spirit of Virginia 2025. But as they say, it wasn’t the destination—or even the journey— but the people you meet along the way.
To the Runk family: y’all have poured so much heart, soul, and time into this organization. Like, truly—do y’all even sleep?! Your dedication has created something absolutely beautiful.
To Miss Vickie: your strength, encouragement, and belief in me have meant more than words can say. You’ve always told me to never give up, and I’ll carry that with me always.
Haleigh… where do I even begin? Over this year, you’ve become the sister I never had. From spending hours talking at Cook Out, my bad directions, countless appearances together, lots of laughing, and even creating new walking routines for me the night before competition—I couldn’t imagine doing this year with anyone else. You’ve become such an inspiration to me.
Morgan, my best friend. We often joke about you being my assistant, but you are truly so much more than that. You’re the girl who, when I ask what you’re doing next weekend, replies with “whatever you’re about to ask me.” You’ve been by my side at all times—fixing my crown, squeezing me into dresses, calming me down before interviews, or just listening to me scream in traffic because I don’t want to be late to a pageant. Win or lose, knowing you’re in the audience means more to me than a crown ever could.
And lastly—my mom. The woman who would’ve never asked to be a pageant mom, but became one anyway. You didn’t grow up on gowns, fake lashes, or six-inch heels, but you showed up for me anyway—cheering so loudly I couldn’t even notice who wasn’t. I couldn’t do this without you, and honestly, I wouldn’t want to.
There are so many other people to thank, but if I went on, we might be here until next year.
After an incredible year of service, appearances, and unforgettable adventures—for the last time, I am your Miss Spirit of Virginia, Jeanie Ackerman.
