A WORD FROM OUR VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS DEAR TEAM, As we close out the second quarter of 2026, I want to take a moment to reflect on everything we have accomplished together. The first half of the year has been filled with milestones worth celebrating, from strong occupancy growth and successful move-ins to quality achievements, survey successes, and countless moments of exceptional service that have made a lasting impact on our residents and their families. I am especially proud to congratulate Ashleigh at Lansdowne, Bay Lake, and Paul Spring on earning the AHCA/NCAL Bronze Quality Award, bringing eight of our ten communities to this important level of recognition. These accomplishments are a direct reflection of the passion, commitment, and teamwork demonstrated across our organization every day. One of the things that continues to impress me most is how well our teams communicate and support one another. Whether it's during our daily Stand-Up and Stand-Down meetings, lending a hand to another department, or stepping in to solve a challenge before it becomes a problem, you demonstrate what it truly means to work as one team. Those ten minutes we spend together each day keep us connected, informed, and focused on delivering exceptional experiences for our residents. Senior living is fast-paced, and no two days are ever the same. I am incredibly grateful for the heart you bring to your work, the pride you take in serving others, and the unwavering commitment you have to your residents, families, and fellow team members. As we begin the second half of 2026, let's continue building on this momentum. Celebrate the wins, learn from the challenges, support one another, and never lose sight of the incredible difference you make every day. Thank you for all that you do to make RUI a place where our residents can truly thrive. Together, we will continue delivering the lifestyle our residents have earned and deserve.

RUI GIVES BACK

with

James Madison Middle School

What started as a simple conversation - “what do you need most? We want to help.” - turned into a 6-month partnership supplying hundreds of meals to local children. The RUI Home Office team partnered with the local James Madison Middle School and Food Lion to support students experiencing food insecurity through the school’s McKinneyVento Program. Each week, from January through June, Home Office team members donated, packed, and delivered weekend food bags filled with nutritious, shelf-stable items. These bags helped ensure students, who typically relied on school meals during the week, would have access to food on the weekends.

INSPIRITÁS TOUCHPOINT In our Inspiritás Memory Care neighborhoods, thoughtfully curated programming and compassionate care create meaningful moments that spark joy, foster connection, and enrich the lives of our residents. In our Inspiritás Spotlight, we want to showcase the most exceptional individuals and stories behind these Inspiritás experiences so we can learn from one another for the betterment of our residents.

Meet Maria Giraldo-Schwartz, Inspiritás Director at Heatherwood Maria’s teammates at Heatherwood describe her as kind, patient, compassionate, and deeply committed to serving others. Each day, she creates a warm, engaging, and supportive environment where residents feel truly seen and welcomed. Her impact extends far beyond the community team. Families of Inspiritás residents consistently recognize the difference she makes, sharing comments such as:

"Maria is always cheerful and engaged with the residents. She clearly focuses on their abilities and their enjoyment." At RUI, we often talk about the meaning of Inspiritás - to infuse the spirit and enliven the lives of others. Maria embodies that mission in every interaction, bringing joy, dignity, and purpose to those she serves.

HEALTHY HABITS Working in senior care takes a mountain of energy, meaning your body needs the absolute best fuel and movement to keep you feeling your best! To avoid the dreaded mid-shift crash , focus on loading your plate with lean proteins and complex carbo hydrates, and keep a reusable water bottle handy to stay sharp and hydrated. Between resident visits, you can keep your musc les happy by squeezing in a quick set of calf raises at a counter or doing seated leg extensions while working on charting. When time is tight, skip the vending machine candy and reach for nutrient-dense snacks like almonds or Greek yogurt to power through the rest of your day. Once you are finally back home , a gentle neighborhood walk or some light stretching works wond ers to ease any tension built up from being on your feet. Remember , taking these small moments to nourish and move your body allow s you to bring your best, most vibrant self to the community every day!

Recipe Corner Ratatouille Ingredients: 1 Eggplant 1 Zucchini 1 Squash 2 Bell Peppers 4 Roma Tomatoes 1 Large Spanish Onion 6 Garlic Cloves 2 Tbsp Olive Oil 2 sprigs picked Thyme leaves 2-3 Basil leaves 1 sprig picked Marjoram leaves 1 Bay Leaf Kosher Salt (to taste) Directions: 1. Set a pot of water to a simmer as well as an ice bath. With a knife, cut little X’s in the bottom of the tomatoes. Simmer for roughly 1-2 minutes, until the skin begins to loosen, then remove the tomatoes from the pot and place in the ice bath. Once cool, peel the skin off the tomatoes and discard. Large dice the tomatoes. 2. Large dice the eggplant, zucchini, and squash. 3. Medium dice the onion and peppers. Peel, crush, and mince the garlic. 4. Add the olive oil, onion, and garlic to a pot. On medium heat, sweat these aromatics until the flavor begins to bloom. (They will begin to turn translucent and release their oils) 5. Add the diced peppers and sweat until their texture begins to soften considerably. 6. Add in the remaining vegetables, lower the heat, and place a lid on the pot. 7. Allow to cook on low heat until all the vegetables begin to soften. Stir every few minutes, decreasing frequency as vegetables soften. 8. Once soft enough to press through the eggplant and squash with a spoon, add in the herbs and a cup of liquid (water, vegetable broth, or even a little white wine). 9. From here, let the stew simmer, stirring occasionally. The tomatoes, much of the squash, and much of the eggplant will soften into a thick, rustic stew. 10. Taste, season, and enjoy!

CURRICULUM PATHWAYS CNA TO RMA STUDENTS IN 2026 These team members proved themselves as dedicated, high performing team members ready for higher level responsibilities and a desire to grow in the community to help residents at a greater capacity. First, these team members completed the state-approved course of in-seat educational material and clinical rotations on the floor to learn about medication management. Then, upon completion, each individual successfully passed the state required examination to become a certified Registered Medication Aide. Today, each team member participates in resident bedside care and medication management plans.

RECENT RENOVATIONS In January 2026, the community officially opened their brand new RUI Fit Gym and Movie Theatre which were previously a library and a game room. These revamped spaces better positioned the community to compete in the local market and provided upscale community spaces that are used daily by current residents. BEFORE
