RST’S FIRST

HOUSE DAY

01.

As you may have known, Friday 1st November was RST’s first ever House day! In this edition, I would be writing about the who’s, what’s, why’s and how’s and give you an update of what’s been going on!

HGK is one of the most exciting house competitions in the year, anyone, especially even nerdy kids like me or sporty people can join! This house competition takes on a gameshow vibe where each house competes in an epic quiz with numerous rounds based on a different topic each time. It indluceded a video round featuring Mr. Ortiz and Mr. Gore’s Observation round. This happens to be on house day too!

The results being Arnold emerging victorious in year 5-6 and Hardy taking the dub in year 7-8 and year 3-4. This was a real nail biter with the results being winning by only one question in year 7-8! Great job to those who went to the finals! Furthermore, Ms Arnold, who has been helping with HGK since the first show, has received a trophy to mark her contribution. We always apreiciated your help!

The first ever

House Lunch

WHAT IS HOUSE LUNCH? House lunch is a lively event where students in different year groups from the same house sit together on a lunch table together with a house Captain.

Why?

BEHIND THE SCENES With the house Captians In each table, there will be a house Captain with the objective of engaging conversations on tables. There were rumors abound that if your table was quiet, you would lose your position, but of course that wasn’t true! (right?…) Now, lets see what other Captains think!

I think it was fun and it was nice to see kids from different age groups talking with each other - Samara I think the house lunch was great because we got to talk to people we never did and it made people in our house get to know their captains - Hael

We run house lunch to get together as a community to chat, engage in conversations and make new friends (sorry, introverts). That day, the dining hall was full of laughter and lively conversation! It was great seeing the members of the house socializing with each other.

This was a house competition to see which house could draw and guess the drawing the quickest! All houses did exceptionally well on this and it was a fun experience!

BADGES After waiting for 2 months, the house Captains finally received their badges! This means that the house Captains have proven worthy of their role.

Customization Two brains are better than one! Well, since there are many more house Captains this year, lots of work can be done on lots of things! House assembly is an example. This year, the house Captains are working hard to customize slideshows for house assembly to make it more entertaining and match the theme of the house more! Kudos to the people who have been doing this!

20 NOVEMBER

Loy Krathong On the 14th of November, the students of prep came to school in traditional Thai clothing instead of uniforms. The day consisted of a variety of different activities, including Loy Krathong related house competitions, many wonderful performances and more!

At the Web Ellis Centre, besides that performances that the students have to offer, a professional theatre playing a famous Thai local story passed down by many different generations called Ramakian performed!.

The history of Loy Krathong ONE OF THE KEY TRADITIONS AND CULTURES OF THAILAND Loy Krathong is a traditional Thai festival celebrated every year, usually in November. The name " Loy Krathong " translates to " floating bowl ". The main custom of the celebration involves crafting and releasing Krathongs onto rivers, lakes or ponds.

Krathongs are usually made with banana trunks and leaves, flowers, candles and incense.

The festival symbolises the act of letting go of misfortune and bad luck while also paying respect to the water spirits, particularly Phra Mae Khongkha, the goddess of water. By floating the krathongs, people believe they are sending away their troubles and starting fresh (like the new year).

Loy Krathong is also a time to honour the Buddha and express gratitude for nature, especially water, which is vital in Thai culture. The festival is known for its vibrant celebrations, including traditional dances, beauty pageants, fireworks, and the lighting of sky lanterns in certain regions of Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai. Each region of Thailand has a unique and different way of celebrating Loy Krathong, but each is just as special as the other !

Temperate Deciduos Forest These forests are also known as deciduous forests because the trees have flat and wide leaves. The Temperate deciduous forests are usually located between the tropics and the arctic. These biomes are exposed to warm and cold air, giving them four seasons – spring, autumn, winter and summer.

When winter approaches and sunlight starts to diminish, the leaves’ chlorophyll production decreases, which makes the color of the leaves from a vivid green to a yellowish and orangey colour. Because temperatures are so cold during the winter, the leaves of the tree has adapted to get into a state of dormancy / sleep during the winter climate.

The average temperature of the temperate deciduous forests range between -30°C to 30°C and it has a yearly average of 10°C. The most typical climate includes hot summers and cold winters. The forest will get roughly 750 to 1500mm of precipitation that will be evenly spread throughout the biome yearly.

Many different kinds of trees, shrubs, and herbs grow in deciduous forests. Most of the trees are broadleaf trees such as oak, maple, beech, hickory and chestnut. There are also several different kinds of plants like mountain laurel, azaleas and mosses that live on the shady forest floor where only small amounts of sunlight get through.

GRAMMYS Nominations

WHAT ARE THE GRAMMYS? The Grammys awards presented by the Recording Academy to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry which are held annually.

HOW DO YOU GET NOMINATED? The artist’s record company (also known as a label) and members of the academy submit their entrees for a chance to get nominated.

Members of the NARAS will decide on nominees for each category and possibly the winner too.

GRAMMYS BEING “RIGGED”?

After the recent announcements of the Grammy nominations, some people have speculated online that the Grammys are “unfair” and “biased. This was most likely due to rage of their favorite artist/album/track wasn’t nominated.

Especially Dua Lipa with no nominations.

Others have pointed out that the Grammys are biased to some artists due to previous controversies and drama.

INTRODUCTION OVER TIME WE ALL KNOW THAT TECHNOLOGY HAS HAD A MASSIVE IMPACT ON HUMANS. TECHNOLOGY HAS HELPED US IN MANY ASPECTS OF LIFE INCLUDING SPORTS. TECHNOLOGY HAS TAKEN A TOLL ON SPORTS QUICKLY CHANGING GAMEPLAY AND STRATEGIES USED IN SPORT. TODAY IN THIS ARTICLE I WILL BE TAKING YOU THROUGH HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS IMPROVED AND ALSO HINDERED SPORTS IN DIFFERENT ASPECTS.

REFEREEING AND JUDGEMENT USING MORE ADVANCED CAMERAS AND DIFFERENT ANGLES, JUDGING SCORES AND OUTCOMES CAN BE EASIER BY REVIEWING FOOTAGE AND ZOOMING IN TO JUDGE THE SCORE OR THE POSITION OF THE ATHLETE. New Porsche Taycan GTS Has Way More HP!

Here’s what’s new with the 2025 Porsche Taycan. Porsche just updated their electric car, the Taycan now comes with more options and bigger upgrades. The Taycan GTS now has 690 HP, which makes it a lot faster than before. It can go from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.1 seconds.

There’s also the Taycan 4, which has all drive wheel drive and a cool new mode that Can switch to rear wheel drive to save energy. Both cars come with special features like LED headlights and sound system.

A Japanese masterpiece with Italian style and American influence

The FD RX-7, a famous sports car made by Mazda, is known for its good design and great performance. Tom Matano and his team at America’s Mazda design studio worked really hard to try to make it special. It came out in 1993 and it stands paragraph text out a lot because of itsYour smooth The FD RX-7 was made during a lines and lightweight build, making it an awesome car to time when Japan’s economy was growing fast, and Mazda wanted drive. They got ideas from classic cars like the Ferrari 275 to make something outstanding.

The car was made in a design GTB, mixing style with a real competition between Mazda’s sports car.
