A thermal spa in the dreamy Podčetrtek (Windisch Landsberg) was the inspiration for this book. The municipality consists of 26 villages and hamlets and is located in the historical region of Lower Styria (Štajerska).
The area around Podčetrtek exudes something homely and familiar. Everywhere you meet friendly people, there are quaint inns and historically interesting excursion destinations.

Coming from Vienna and Graz, you reach the "Atomske Toplice Hotel" station via Celje or Grobelno. The thermal spa stop is directly opposite the hotel complex. If
traveling via Celje, you also have the opportunity to use the stopover for a visit to the enchanting city.

Today, the term Southern Railway applies to the ÖBB routes from Vienna via Graz to Spielfeld-Straß and from Bruck an der Mur via Klagenfurt to Tarvis. Ideas and concepts for a Southern Railway were already developed in 1829. Even then, people were aware of the importance of a direct connection from Vienna to the Adriatic. Since there were significant topographical obstacles on the route, it was realized in stages. As early as 1849, one could travel by train from Vienna to
Ljubljana. To cross the Semmering, one still had to change to the stagecoach. The first standard-gauge mountain railway in Europe, the Semmering Railway planned by Carl von Ghega, was opened to traffic in 1854. This impressive section of the Southern Railway has been a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 1998.

The Vienna - Trieste route was opened in 1857. The evening edition of the Austrian-Imperial Vienna Newspaper, (No. 169) from Monday, July 27, 1857, contained the following article: "From the Imperial-Royal Governorship Presidency in Trieste to the Imperial-Royal Ministries of the Interior and Commerce. Trieste, July 27.
His Imperial-Royal Apostolic Majesty arrived here happily this morning at 10 o'clock, opening the Ljubljana-Trieste railway line, and most graciously deigned to perform the ceremonial laying of the final stone, after which Their Highest Majesty proceeded to the Highest lodging quarters amid the jubilation of the population."

It is completely normal for the Olimia Thermal Spa that the congress center also meets the highest demands. In the Sotelia, there are five combinable rooms, in the Breza one room, and two halls in the Rosa.
The Olimia Congress Center can accommodate conferences with up to 800 people. For exhibitions, concerts, and sports events, there is an event hall opposite the entrance to the grounds.

The late Gothic church of the Holy Virgin Mary in the Sand sits on a small hill above a picturesque rural cemetery and is visible from afar.
The mighty early Baroque octagonal bell tower with a steep conical roof is very striking and gives the building a special note. The colorful buttresses at the corners of the nave round off the imposing and unique appearance of the house of God.

On the ground floor of the south tower hides an invaluable jewel: an old monastery pharmacy with fantastic frescoes. The pharmacy dates from the years 1663 to 1783.

Alfonz Videtič worked as a chocolatier in Vienna until 1915 at the turn of the century. The shortage of raw materials for chocolate production that prevailed in the first years of the last century led to the cessation of his activity.
In 1990, his descendants revived the chocolate tradition and began producing and selling fine chocolate in the Olimje Chocolate Factory.

It can be assumed that as early as 1050, a fortress stood on the site of today's monastery. Over time, Saint Hemma of Gurk was also one of the owners of the estate. A building at this location was first mentioned in documents in 1208. Count Hans Erasmus von Tattenbach converted the building into a Renaissancestyle castle.
Over a hundred years later, in 1663, a monastery was established for the Pauline monks from Croatian Lepoglava. In 1782, Emperor Franz Joseph II dissolved
the monastery and founded a parish. The building and lands later passed into the possession of the Count von Attems. Due to the high tax burden (taxes were calculated on window areas), the count had two wings of the monastery demolished.
In recent decades, the monastery has been in the hands of the Minorites.

The Kozjansko region is known for its untouched nature and many medicinal plants. The monks have created a botanical garden where over 200 different medicinal herbs are grown. Each plant is described in Slovenian and Latin. Following the motto "For every illness, a healing flower grows," the medical purposes and diseases to be treated for each plant are explained. Access to the garden is free.
