Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!
This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though
The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.
The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...
Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.
Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

Final day! Tonight we go to Goodrich to take on Cinderford Stags in the final of the Forest Hundred. When we received a message from Sam from Goodrich about joining the 2024 Hundred league, the interest was mixed, some of us weren’t necessarily sold on the format, but the return of midweek cricket was too good to turn down, especially with the idea of coloured kit and pink balls. This would be the first time the club would be wearing a coloured kit so we needed to find a sponsor, and I’d like to take a moment to thank Coleman Garden Services for providing it, from the first time the boys wore it they loved it and it really added a different feel to our cricket. the group stage was mixed with some good results and some bad ones notably beating Goodrich by 10 wickets at home and on the flip side, defeat to Lydney by 10 wickets on the road. But we made the final 4 and travelled to ladder winners, Monmouth with possibly one of our strongest sides of the competition and and a confidence we hadn’t seen yet This all led to a final ball victory with Stu and Alfie at the crease to see us home. We are all looking forward to tonight where although it’s a “local derby” it should be played in great spirits with good friends on both sides. Hopefully it proves to be a good game for the neutral (but we come out on top!).
I would also like to thank thank Sam and the rest of Goodrich for organising the competition as well as the sponsors Tom Nutbrown for taking some great photos and Julie’s Laundry and Cleaning services for their excellent service. UP THE HILL!
We approach the summer season with energy and vigour after participating in the indoor winter league competition and coming a respectable 4th place. Since January, we have welcomed many more new players, bringing our squad to over 20 players and have had the benefit of being coached by Chloe Skelton, current player for Western Storm. The weather may be against us, but we aim to play an inter-club “friendly” hardball game this Sunday, prior to starting the hardball league the following week. The fact we are growing as a team so quickly is testament, not only to the dedication and spirit of all the women who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!

Has not stopped moving since 2015, always on the go. Attacking batsman and a key component The skips Sergeant major When he gets it right theres fireworks
Aaron Barnett
Big Lad , bigger heart, The Hills opening spinner, arms like a tree trunk and keeps everyone on their toes. Ability to smoke and vape between innings something to be envied.
Ryan Chappell-Thomas
Good looking lad, son in law of someone the author used to play with. All rounder bowling seam and can hold a bat more than adequately. Excellent fielder except when a certain spinner is bowling.
Stuart Cornwell-Boote
Double barrelled name so must be good , Excellent attacking batter and will always be known as the fella who ran two to the wicket keeper in the semi. Top lad
Freddie Gwilliam
Extremely talented allrounder ( son of). Spin bowling, pizza eating, bat collecting Mr Cricket. Simply loves the game, keeps on and on and on about it non stop. Loves the club and wants the Captain to adopt him.
Alfie Jayne
Fast Bowler, attacking bat, can catch , gutsy and ballsy ,will have a fight if its needed, have a pint and then go out and open the bowling. Will run uphill into a gale all day and is starting to look like he has.
Aiden Moore
Wicket taking young bowler, comes from a family who currently supply 78% of all Ruardean players Has developed his batting in recent times and can give it a whack
Riley Pearce
Handsome eloquent young chap and a blooming fine bowler and useful batter. Son of the chairman but you wouldn't know it with him being so talented and good looking.Could be my favourite
Aaron Underwood
Batter, teacher and very very tall. Hits the ball further than I go on holiday and has been known to step on the bowlers toes when offering a forward defensive.
Dean White
Known as Mad dog, Somewhat Injury prone batting colossus who continually puts himself in harms way The elder statesman of the team but with an infectious drive to win. Along within the skipper a reason the clubs in the position its in. Bats like Harry Styles and sings like Harry Brooke, if only it was the other way round.
