Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!
This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though
The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.
The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...
Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.
Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

Last Saturday was a difficult one, with several away we travelled to Painswick hoping to continue our good run of form but after losing the toss, Painswick chose to bat they got off to a flier and pit on 164 before we took our first wicket This then lifted the atmosphere in the field and we went on to take 6 wickets - Chappell 3, Riley 2 and Kane 1 Being set 247 to win, we got off to a great start with Jack and Taz racing to 40. but unfortunately both openers fell in quick succession leaving us 44-2. However, a fantastic 70 run partnership from Dean and Andy kept us ahead of the rate until Andy fell for 24 This then brought in Aaron who alongside Dean guided us to 170 before Dean fell for his maiden first XI 50 Unfortunately another quick wicket meant the firepower started to die and 247 looked miles away However reaching 200 for the 3rd time this season was promising and this week see’s a huge return of players and tough decisions have been made Hopefully though we can get back to winningt ways as we welcome Lechlade to the Hill.
W or w e w d the benefit of b weather may be is Sunday, prior to starting the hardball leag ng as a team so quickly is testament, not on n who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!
Last Saturday's headline was 'Pete's Prodigies Pummel Parkend', as the 2nd XI, skippered by Mr Moore in my absence, cruised to a 7-wicket win After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, the captain led by example, taking a brace at an economy rate of less than 2 runs an over Young guns Aiden, Harry and Zach also took 2 wickets apiece as Parkend were restricted to 169 for 9 - a decent, but not insurmountable total on a good wicket Losing Aidan first ball wasn't the ideal start to the reply, but on the plus side, this brought a confident Stu to the crease, and he oozed class and stroked boundaries galore as he scored 81 off 79 balls. Stu's dismissal came with the total on 100 after 175 overs, leaving us well ahead of the required rate with the in-form Bally in next Although he didn't score at quite the same strike rate as our number 3, Bally still showed plenty of intent on his way to 42 before holing out with less than 10 runs needed Tony (who faced over 100 deliveries) had calmly spent the entire innings keeping one end secure whilst allowing his partners to take the lead, fully earning him the honour of hitting the winning runs, which came with 2 overs to spare Another great victory for an ever-improving team Fingers crossed for more of the same today against Bream!

A game of two halves this week, sadly starting with Corse and Staunton having to concede our T20 game due to lack of player availability I’m incredibly proud that we have a squad that is committed to fulfilling all our league games, reflecting everyone’s commitment to the team The hastly organised game versus the development team, gave us a great alternative to fill the slot! Wednesday finally saw us play our first softball league fixture against Bream We successful executed a confident win, with every player contributing to the wickets, including our newer and less experienced players of Scarlett and Maisie This game evidences how hard work, determination and self belief influences our growth as a team, all which will be needed as we face Tewskbury in the T20 league on Sunday! And no one ask Kay and I to lead catching practice

We approach the summer season with energy and vigour after participating in the indoor winter league competition and coming a respectable 4th place. Since January, we have welcomed many more new players, bringing our squad to over 20 players and have had the benefit of being coached by Chloe Skelton, current player for Western Storm. The weather may be against us, but we aim to play an inter-club “friendly” hardball game this Sunday, prior to starting the hardball league the following week.
