Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!

This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though

The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.

The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...

Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.

Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

Last week saw us travel to Haresfield gladiators, where we were in desperate need of a result with several first teamers away, we had to call on some usual 2s players to fill the gaps But regular stars Taz (25), Jack (82), Nick (60) and Aaron (36) all contributed well to see us to 249-5, before a mini collapse saw us finish on 258-8, securing maximum batting points for the first time this season The second innings saw all bowlers put in a good shift with openers Jack and Taz reducing the hosts to 42-4 Jayner as always kept things tight with figures of 1-16 from his 8 But wondering who could be my 4th clutch bowler, Freddie was thrown the ball and did not disappoint, bowling with disciplined flight and lines, granted there was the odd bad ball but his 2-20 shown his capabilities Alun and new man Doug stepped in to take the last 2 wickets of the Haresfield Innings We’re hoping that this can push us on now and hace a successful season

W or w e w d the benefit of being weather may be agai is Sunday, prior to star ng as a team so quickly n who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!

Our young guns made it 3 wins in a row for the 2nd XI with a convincing 6-wicket win against Newent last week Once again, early strikes with the ball made the difference. Luke was the star of the show on this occasion, taking 3 wickets in 3 overs, but everyone bowled economically to ensure that even though Newent managed to avoid being bowled out, they only managed to post a final total of 116 Bally continues to be in sparkling form with the bat - he’s yet to be dismissed this season - and he skilfully guided the team through the run chase I’m grateful to both him and Pete for the way they’ve looked after the team in my absence. On a personal level, I was delighted to hear my son, Zach, had scored 16 not out and hit the winning runs in his first senior innings We go into today’s game at table-toppers Alvington full of optimism Our fantastic youth set-up is certainly bearing fruit at the moment long may it continue!

Last Sunday saw another milestone for the women’s team as we played our first hundred game Being drawn against Cheltenham, was always going to be a challenging game. Whilst there is no need to reflect on the result; reader we came 2nd, there was much to feel pleased about, nonetheless than Cheltenham’s shining example of good sportspersonship Shout out to Leigh and Donna, who yet again demonstrate the courage and tenacity to put themselves out there in their first game of hardball! And for some of our more experienced players, they may have rediscovered their mojo, with Becca taking her first wicket of the season and Kay looking comfortable with the bat! A personal thanks to Lacey for taking a great catch off my bowling! This week sees us play Huntley in T20 and Bream in the softball cup!
