Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!

This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though

The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.

The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...

Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.

Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

last weeks rain saw our trip to Oakridge called off, after a great win the previous week, it would have been good to keep up the momentum but somethings are out of our hands! This week we welcome Tetbury to the hill, who currently sit in second They were the first game we played this season and with lots of young lads in it was a tough day, but with a completely different side today and more ““First XI” players in it should be a much more competitive game. igs always good to take on these sorts of teams so we know where we’re at moving forward Personally j think if we had more regularity with availability we have at least 3 or 4 more promotions in us, so hopefully we can get the win today and keep the dream to push on alive!

Last Saturday was a frustrating time for all, as for the second time this season, our match against Huntley was rained off Whatever the weather, I wouldn't have been playing, having spilt the webbing between my fingers a few days earlier taking a catch for the Hurricanes in the Hundred The midweek competition has seen some promising performances from our youngsters, and our CGF Division 2 campaign has been no different - of the 7 players to take 5 or more wickets for the 2nd XI this season, 5 are teenagers, and this number would be even higher if Fred and Riley hadn't been promoted to the first team The next challenge for this group of players is to learn how to consistently build an innings with the bat, something which Bally has excelled at this season (watch and learn, kids) I hope to see even further improvement in the second half of the season, starting with today's game at Yorkley We narrowly lost to our opponents in May, but a win today would see us solidify our current league position (we're third, they're fourth) Let's do this!

W or w e w d the benefit of b weather may be is Sunday, prior to starting the hardball leag ng as a team so quickly is testament, not on n who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!

Like many other clubs in the county, rain stopped play last weekend as we called off our planned hardball friendly with the Development team There was another sporting event on Wednesday which led to our planned softball league game away at Newent postponed until next Monday With other non-cricketing events such as school plays and achievement evenings, all in all cricket has had a back seat this week But all to play for next week Newent will be looking for the win as they battle for the top of the table According to their social media post, they see us a strong team, so we hope we live up to that expectation We also host new team Moreton-in-Marsh in the softball hundred cup quarter final on Thursday. A win in that game will see us through to final day in September. All to play for as long as this sunshine decides to stay but not too bright in case it dazzles me and causes me to drop another catch off Kay’s bowling

We approach the summer season with energy and vigour after participating in the indoor winter league competition and coming a respectable 4th place. Since January, we have welcomed many more new players, bringing our squad to over 20 players and have had the benefit of being coached by Chloe Skelton, current player for Western Storm. The weather may be against us, but we aim to play an inter-club “friendly” hardball game this Sunday, prior to starting the hardball league the following week. The fact we are growing as a team so quickly is testament, not only to the dedication and spirit of all the women who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow.
