Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!

This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though

The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.

The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...

Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.

Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

Last week wasn't the start to our return to the County League we would have liked. With several of last seasons regulars unavailable, it was always going to be tough But everyone gave what they could, Jayner with a well managed 60 and Taz 30, were the pick of the batting , but unfortunately we were only able to reach 110 Not an ideal total to defend, but suddenly 2 early wickets from Alfie meant we were definitely in the game Unfortunately for us, the Tetbury batsmen were always in control and saw off the total in 25 overs. This week we welcome Eastcombe to the Hill and with the return of some familiar faces we are hoping to bounce back.

W or w e w d the benefit of being weather may be agai is Sunday, prior to star ng as a team so quickly n who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!

No game again for the 2nd XI today, as once again our hosts (St Johns on this occasion) have a waterlogged pitch. This highlights what a fantastic job our volunteers have done to make our pitch playable. The wicket for last week’s home game v Yorkley was excellent, with over 400 runs scored on the day and a thrilling finish We may have ended up 9 runs short, but there were plenty of positives Stu Cornwell-Boote (98) put on a batting masterclass, our bowling attack included 5 teenagers (who took all of our wickets between them), and - most importantly - WE PLAYED A GAME OF CRICKET! Onwards and upwards!

“Four seasons in one day” has to sum up last weekend’s weather. We set out with suncream on our faces to play the first T20 hardball league game Losing the toss, Tewksbury set us to field Honorable mention to Kiera Daugreilh for taking the first wicket and to Lexie Shackell who picked up two wickets with her first 2 balls! Tewksbury set a tough target to chase, and with Millie and Kiera at the crease, we started to build Sadly the rain came and match had to be absconded. This weekend we’re away to Corse & Staunton with the weather looking better!

We approach the summer season with energy and vigour after participating in the indoor winter league competition and coming a respectable 4th place. Since January, we have welcomed many more new players, bringing our squad to over 20 players and have had the benefit of being coached by Chloe Skelton, current player for Western Storm. The weather may be against us, but we aim to play an inter-club “friendly” hardball game this Sunday, prior to starting the hardball league the following week. The fact we are growing as a team so quickly is testament, not only to the dedication and spirit of all the women who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow.
