Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!

This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though

The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.

The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...

Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.

Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

After the frustration of last weeks cancelled match at home against Oakridge, today’s attention turns to our visit to Tetbury who join us back in the GCCL again after their promotion from the Stroud and District league Both teams will be looking to start their 2024 campaigns well but we are full of confidence going into the 2024 season Although we have some injuries and absences I definitely think our squad will be deep enough for another successful season and this will bring chances and opportunities for some of our 2s players to get a taste of the GCCL.

The sun is shining, the grass is dry(ish) it’s beginning to look a lot like the cricket season! After last week’s false start, we’re looking forward to getting our league campaign under way today against Yorkley. I first started playing for this club over 30 years ago, but the excitement and anticipation of that first game - particularly when it’s at our home ground - has never left me It’ll be great to catch up with people I haven’t seen since 2023 and I’m excited to see the young core of our team continue their journey towards first team cricket Let’s hope for a decent performance and carry that feelgood factor forward to next week!

We approach the summer season with energy and vigour after participating in the indoor winter league competition and coming a respectable 4th place. Since January, we have welcomed many more new players, bringing our squad to over 20 players and have had the benefit of being coached by Chloe Skelton, current player for Western Storm. The weather may be against us, but we aim to play an inter-club “friendly” hardball game this Sunday, prior to starting the hardball league the following week. The fact we are growing as a team so quickly is testament, not only to the dedication and spirit of all the women who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!

This weekend see’s the club take its next step forward as the women’s XI play their first T20 hardball league game at home vs Tewksbury We were fortunate to play our Development XI on Wednesday, which demonstrated a solid basis that we have to work on Participating in anything new can feel somewhat daunting or exposing, but what it also brings is courage and bravery to put yourself out there To each and everyone of the squad I solute your ability to show up and give this a go! Bring on the next challenge!
