Welcome all to another packed season of cricket on the hill!

This year we already have over 100 matches scheduled across the club, and are excited to provide even more opportunities for cricket - the women's hardball team will make their competitive debut, as will our new Development XI, and the as-yet-unnamed Hundred franchise will take a bow... all dependent on the rain actually stopping at some point though

The off-season has again been productive, with indoor league cricket continuing and excellent turnout at training sessions I'm heartened by the way the club continues to grow and the inclusive attitudes on display at all these sessions.

The committee has also been working hard to put together a vision of how we want to develop club in the future, and we have big plans that are already underway This is going to require significant investments of time, effort and, of course, money, but will be hugely beneficial to the club and community. More on that to follow, but you can help immediately by signing up to our new membership structure! Details available in all the usual places...

Lastly, a big thank you to all volunteers, club partners and sponsors who are doing so much to support the club and the game we love.

Best of luck in all your fixtures, up the Hill!

Our frustrating start to the season continued last week as we welcomed Cam to the Hill It wasn’t our strongest fielding display and this shown, letting the visitors amass 246-6 Riley was the pick of the bowlers with 3-66 and a run out! Things looked up though in the second half as two strong batting performances by Taz (82) and Aaron Underwood (40) kept in with a chance. But when Aaron was dismissed our chances felt like they were just drifting away despite two aggressive knocks from Barn with 17 from 13 and Riley 11 from 4. We need to be tighter in the field this week as we travel to Haresfield who have had a tough start to the season It’s a very winable game if we want it to be and hopefully will be the kick starter to the season we need

W or w e w d the benefit of being weather may be agai is Sunday, prior to star ng as a team so quickly n who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!

I missed last week’s 2nd XI game due to a late call-up to the firsts, but it’s fair to say they didn’t miss me! Captaining a side containing 7 teenagers, Pete deftly handled things in the field to ensure plenty of people had a bowl, yet still dismiss Westbury for a mere 82. Going in at 1 in my absence, Crossy did a great job of seeing off the opening bowlers, before Bally (yet again) saw us over the line to a comfortable 8-wicket win. A phenomenal team performance Let’s hope for similar success as we welcome Newent to the Hill today!

Last week we were due to play our first softball league game Unfortunately Westbury were unable to field a team, resulting in a concession Fortunately, with increasing ties with other nearby clubs, Thursday saw us play Aston Ingham in a friendly softball game AI always prove wonderful hosts, both on and off the pitch, with our equal standard making games really competitive but fun. Special mention has to go to Donna, who making her debut this season, is showing huge promise in the field and with the bat. Shout out also has to go to Millie, who finally took a much deserved wicket about so many near misses in recent games! Least said about my catching the better - we still won! This week sees our biggest challenge; we’re facing Cheltenham in the hundered hardball cup!

The fact we are growing as a team so quickly is testament, not only to the dedication and spirit of all the women who show up to practice, but also to the committee and RHCC sports club who also want to see the game of cricket grow. Here’s to a fantastic summer and here’s to a cheeky shandy post a Sunday game! Cheers!
