A WORD FROM OUR CAPTAINS DEAN WHITE
from 12th August
Things returned to normal for the second half of the season last week as for the 4th time in 5 weeks the weather won But today we welcome St Philips North to the hill and the forecast isn't looking great, but hopefully it will miss us and we can get the game on With a couple of regulars away it will be a good opportunity for others to take their chance and put in a good shift I would also like to remind everyone that Sunday is our Club day, so if you haven't already please confirm your availability!

With so many league fixtures being cancelled in recent weeks (why does it always seem to rain on a Saturday?!?), it’s fortunate that this period has coincided with the return of Friendly XI matches to the Hill These friendlies have enabled us to keep momentum going and ensure people haven’t had to go too long without a game of cricket We’ll definitely look to add more friendlies to the calendar next year, to provide more opportunities (and development-level matches) for juniors and seniors to work on their hardball game Only 3 more weeks of the season to go after this Saturday, then the 2024 planning begins in earnest!
SAM WHITE - WOMEN'S
Cricket is like buses, nothing much available and then 3 games come along in quick succession. Sunday saw a road trip to Malmesbury for a friendly softball match. An enjoyable afternoon spent supporting another club who are in the infancy of developing their women ’ s side. Monday saw our best all round performance against Aston Ingham to keep us top of the league. Wednesday we debuted and played hardball against Corse and Staunton. As it was a pairs game, we narrowly lost by 3 runs. However this has definitely given us the confidence to enter a hardball league next season. So much to celebrate. Whatever the results of our final 2 league games next week, who would have ever thought we would be chasing the league title a year ago! I’ll take that!
