A WORD FROM OUR CAPTAINS DEAN

Last Saturday saw us travel to Andoversford We won the toss and elected to bat, we started well getting to 30 in 4 overs but some quicke wickets saw us fall to 56-3 in the first 10 overs, with Jack Robins getting to bulk of those (42) More wickets fell and at 91-5 things were looking bleak But in comes Alfie Jayne to partner Nick, and what a partnership it was, amassing 124 for the 6th wicket before Nick fell on 89 in the 40th over Alfie then followed not long after as to many 2's took their tole and he was ran out for 29 Yet again our opening pairing of Jack and Andy started us well with Andy taking 3-30 and Jack being toght as always only going for 9 from his 6 overs Some tight bowling in the middle put pressure on the opposition and this allowed Paul Weaving to clear up the tail taking 4-22. This week we welcome Ullenwood Bharat to the Hill!

WHITE - 2ND XI

It was a case of ‘ so near and yet so far’ last week Our attack did phenomenally well to bowl Lydney out for only 146, our youngsters stepping up once again at both ends of the innings With 31 required from 8 overs and 5 wickets in hand, we looked to be in line to cause an upset, but the loss of 3 wickets for only 3 runs meant we ended up falling agonisingly short Being competitive against such a strong team was very encouraging though, and we enter today’s game against Woodpeckers full of optimism Let’s go!

SAM WHITE - WOMEN'S

This week marks a year since we advertised for women to come and form a ladies team and how far have we come? This week has seen successive wins at Down Hatherley softball festival, a friendly against Aston Ingham and culminating in an impressive league win against Huntley on Wednesday. The team is going from strength to strength. Special mention to our junior players who have sacrificed hardball cricket to support the ladies team this week. Also to Kay Moore, who is topping the runs this season but also as my wing woman stepping in to captain Wednesday’s team as I drink cocktails on a sun lounger! Signing off for a few days break but watch this space - this section of the club continues to grow. Hardball anyone?!
