Hello all, Hard to believe we ’ re already nearing the end of the season, and what a season it's been, with some fantastic cricket played by all teams. If only it had been a little drier…
I’m not going to go into too much detail here reviewing what’s gone before as I wouldn’t want to steal any thunder away from our forthcoming PRESENTATION EVENING

A WORD FROM OUR CAPTAINS DEAN
Where to start then? Last week saw us welcome Andoversford where a win would see us win the CGF Prem and secure promotion back to the GCCL After losing the toss and being asked to field, the Andoversford innings started well with 9 coming from the first over, but after Randy took their first wicket the rest didn’t take long to fall, Jack Weaving picking up 3, Nick Jayne 4 and Alfie 2, dismissing the visitors for 93 But as has happened several times this year, Jack Robins and Weaving put the gas on and knocked off the total inside 10 overs with the latter hitting a 6 to wrap it all up! It’s been a really positive year and I’m thankful to everyone who made themselves available to help us get back up We have 1 game to go today as we travel to Ullenwood Bharat where hopefully we can finish the season on a high.
WHITE - 2ND XI
The season ends as it started - with a cancellation - but some things are more important than cricket Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the friends, family and team mates of Woodpeckers 2nd XI captain Phil Beer, who sadly died this week Looking back at the year, last week’s win against Lydney epitomised our season - young players stepping up (Trent, Riley and James with the ball, Jayden with the bat) to put us in a winning position Fourth place in the table is a great reward for the effort the team has put in, and the aim for next year - given the progress we ’ ve made over the past two seasons - has to be promotion A big thank you to all who have played a part this year I look forward to celebrating our success at the presentation evening Bring on 2024!
SAM WHITE - WOMEN'S
This week, cricket took a more relaxed approach as we welcomed Bream to the Hill. Leigh stepped up to support our opposition as they struggled to raise a full team. Similarly to Kay earlier in the season, somehow playing against your team further improves your game, with Leigh hitting an impressive 26, including six boundaries. Despite this knock, RHCC held their own with a wonderful debut knock from Kelly, Beth defending her wicket and a wonderful welcome back for Jess recovering from an injury clinched us the game. These games are more than a win; they’re about ensuring the growth of cricket in all forms of the game! What a season! So much to feel proud of. But that can be said at the end of the season do. See you there!
