A WORD FROM OUR CAPTAINS DEAN WHITE -

Last week saw us welcome 2nd place Stanway to the hill in what was looking to be our toughest fixture so far We won the toss and for the 4th match in row, opted to bat, getting to 252-9 A quick start from Tax (38) set us up for a good total, followed up by a usual, classy 86 from Jayner and brutal 60 from Kerry helping us reach our total We started our defence well with opening bowlers Jack Weaving and Andy O'Connell sharing 3 wickets in their spells, followed up with a tight shift from Kane (2-25) helping reduce the visitors to 152-5 A few dropped catches prevented us from picking up a couple more bowling points but we'll hopefully be back to our usual standards today as we travel to 8th place St Philps North

I can't fault the 2nd XI for the effort they put in last Saturday against Westbury The team fought hard to stay in the game and still had an outside chance of winning it with 15 overs to go, but you won't win many games where you concede 50+ extras, and so it proved On the plus side, our opening partnership passed 50 for the third successive game, Bobby looks in good working order with both bat and ball, Fred's off-spin is coming along very nicely and Riley clearly has both the nerve and skills required to be a death bowler There's plenty to be positive about Today we welcome Newent, who we defeated by 1 wicket in last year ' s fixture Let's hope for another win, but a slightly less nerve-wracking one this time!

SAM WHITE - WOMEN'S

What a week! The season has really kicked off for the women ’ s team with a double header at Cam softball festival on Sunday and a friendly against Aston Ingham played on a glorious sunny Wednesday evening We won each of them These wins are the result of a combined effort of hard work and perseverance which is really paying off Special shout out to Kiera Daugreilh for her fabulous innings of 37 off 18 balls in the second game against Cam and Kay Moore striking 19 on Wednesday We couldn’t be in a stronger place as we head to one final friendly against Tewksbury on Sunday and start the league against Newent on Monday May the cricketing Gods continue to be on our side!
